10 Questions With

Mike Kim
1. What type of workout did you do before being introduced to Crossfit? I played ice hockey and have been involved in all aspects of training. My hockey career ended so it was perfect timing for Crossfit. Trainer is Tim from Max - he has always been a great supporter/trainer. 2. How long have you been doing Crossfit and what was its appeal? This is my 3rd year. The community/competitive aspect (Ive always been competitive). 3. Which other competitions have you been involved in? Regionals was the most memorable - the community aspect behind you is surreal. Also, Crossfit Intrepid in Warwick, NY - the WOD, owner, competition, environment - all around great experience.

4. What made you decide to join ATL? Competition drives me and I think what Tim is doing is great - its definitely something the community will benefit from. 5. One of the things that I noticed at the ATL is camaraderie and community. At the gym, were more used to just plugging in the earbuds and staring at a mirror not talking to anyone when we work out. But CrossFit, in general, is very different with

that community aspect. Can you elaborate some more on that camaraderie and what you appreciate about it?

During the open everyone wants to do their best but you want to support everyone. You see a 45 year old mother and you want to support her. There is a bond that you form. Were all in it for the push - the camaraderie drives us. 6. What is your workout regiment? Strength is not my strong point so I workout with that meat head style - haha. The guys at the open are animals, so its important that I dedicate 1.5 hours per day to get stronger. I follow that up with a Met Con workout, then more strength, then the regular WOD. 7. What is the biggest misconception about CrossFit? People think you have to be in shape to start CrossFit.

8. Whats the hardest CrossFit WOD youve ever done? 13.2 Open workout (AMRAP - 10 minutes - 115 pound Shoulder to overhead, 5 reps, 115 pound Deadlift, 10 reps, 15 Box jumps, 24" box)

9.Whats your biggest Crossfit goal? Be the best athlete and coach I can be.

10. Any final words on the ATL? It s a great idea. Can t wait to see where it goes!
