Your system has been fully configured with minimum software using startup facility. After completion of statup utility you can switch on/off the system and when rebooted the login will be abc and there is no password configured just Enter when password is asked. You wil see the command prompt as under

> To enter provisioning mode type following

> start prov

The Committed startup.full.001 file is located in provisioning directory which you can display using following commands

Prov> cd p(provisioning) fs

Prov> ls fs

To Create a UserID and give him Access Rights to Configure and Manage a Passport Node:-

For the purpose of understanding let the userID for the Node be "LONDON" and say the selected password is also "LONDON". We want this userID to be given access to the entire Passort Network and the capability to debug the configuration. The sequence of command should be as under:-

Prov> add accesscontrol(ac) Prov> add ac userid LONDON Prov> set ac userid LONDON password LONDON Prov> set ac userid LONDON commandscope network Prov> set ac userid LONDON commandimpact debug Prov> set ac userid LONDON allowedaccess local telnet fmip ftp Prov> set ac userid LONDON allowedoutaccess telnet

Prov> check prov

This may give some error stating that Rtg dpn has been provisioned but RID and MID are missing. To configure RID and MID use following commands. Let RID=1 and MID=10

Prov> d rtg dpn

System will display

Rtg dpn Routingid= Moduleid= .

Prov> set rtg dpn routingid 1 Prov> set rtg dpn moduleid 10

At this stage we can also add the Nodeprefix (26 digits) required for routing. Let nodeprefix be 399110+20 zeros Use following command

Prov> set mod nodeprefix 39911000000000000000000000

You can see the nodeprefix using following commands

Prov> d mod

Mod Nodeprefix 39911000000000000000000000

..

Prov> check prov Prov> activate prov Prov> commit prov

Do not commit unless asked to do so. If you commit now the configuration is required to be saved In a file. If committed, next time you switch on the Passort Node the login will be "LONDON" and password will also be "LONDON"

To Add Software feature list in the Software LPTs:-

The configuration done so far has added few software LPTs(Logical Processor Types) and feature list in the software LPTs based on the type of cards present in the chassis and NMS facility configured. To see the software application version list called avlist use following command

Prov> d sw avlist

The system will indicate following

Base_CE01S1B

Ip_CE01S1B

The check the LPTs added to software use following command

Prov> d sw lpt/*

The system will display following LPTs along with feature list

Lpt/cp

- Feature list ip

Lpt/ether - ip Lpt/test - test

There are only three cards of the Passport which are configured to use above LPTs and only these cards have Logical Processors defined these are CP having LP/0 and lpt/cp, spare CP having LP/15 and lpt/cp and 2 Port Ethernet Card having LP/3 (Since it in slot No 3) and lpt/ether. This can be seen using following commands

Prov> d lp/0

It will display Lp/0 Maincard=sh ca/0 Sparecard=sh ca/15

Logicalprocessortype=sw lpt/cp

If you use the command

Prov>d sh ca/0

It will display

Sh ca/0 Cardtype=cp Configuredlp=lp/0 Sparingconnection=spare CP

If you use following command to check 2 Port Eth100 card Which is in slot No 3

Prov>d sh ca/3

It will display

Sh ca/3

Cardtype=2peth100 Configuredlp=lp/3 Sparingconnection= (blank as no sparing is done)

Prov>d lp/3

It will display

Lp/3 Maincard=sh ca/3 Sparecard= (blank) Logicalprocessortype=sw lpt/ether

If you use the above command for other cards you will find that maincard is mentioned as it has been recognized by the software but in all other cards lp the sw lpt/test is present because all the cards have been only tested.

Adding Application Software. Use the following command

Proc> d sw avlist

The system will display all the application version of the software loaded. Since only two software avlist are loaded so far you will see the display

Base_CE01S1B ip_CE01S1B

Use following commands to add the application software

Prov> set sw avlist networking_CE01S1B vtds_CE01S1B trunks_CE01S1B framerelay_CE01S1B atmnetworking_CE01S1B wandte_CE01S1B switchedaccess_CE01S1B aal1ces_CE01S1B

Prov> check prov Prov> activate prov Prov> confirm prov

Use commit prov only if you are told to do so

Creating LPTs for use with various Cards:-

First add following feature list to software lpt/cp and lpt/ETHER

Prov> set sw lpt/cp fl oamenet callserver ipifr bgp mvr vncscallserver Prov> set sw lpt/ether fl ip atmmpe ipcos

Create following software Lpts If not already created and add featurelist as given below

Prov> add sw lpt/atm Prov> add sw lpt/e3atm Prov> add sw lpt/ima Prov> add sw lpt/voice Prov> add sw lpt/vnetcas Prov> add sw lpt/vnetccsqsig Prov> add sw lpt/vnetccsmcdn

Prov> swt sw lpt/vnetqsig featurelist voicenetworking etsiqsig g728 g729 faxrelay tandempassthrough

Prov> check prov Prov> activate prov Prov> confirm prov

Use commit prov only if you are told to do so

Now there is a need to add logical processors with the cards and set software LPTs which the card will use. Let us assume the cards in various slots are as under

Slot No 0 Slot No 1 Slot No 2

- CP Card - 1 Port MVPE1 Card - ILS Forwarder Card

Slot No 3 Slot No 4 Slot No 5 Slot No 6 Slot No 7 Slot No 8 Slot No 9

- 2 Port Ethernet Card - OC3 Ports of 32 Port E1 MSA - 32 Port E1 MSA Card - Empty - Empty - 2 Port OC3 Card ATM IP - Empty

Slot No 10 - Empty Slot No 11 - empty

Slot No 12 - 3 Port E3 ATM IP Card Slot No 13 - Empty Slot No 14 - Empty Slot No 15 - Spare CP

Before proceeding adhead check each card whether a Logical Processor (lp) and a Logical Processor Type (Lpt) is already configured or not. Use following commands

Prov> d sh ca/3

It will display

Sh ca/3 Cardtype =2peth100 Configuredlp =lp/3

Sparingconnection=

Prov> lp/3 Lp/3 Maincard=sh ca/3 Sparecard= Logicalprocessortype=sw lpt/ether

Suppose a card does not have LP and Logical Processor Type mentioned when you use above commands then these need to be configured. Two examples given below are for configuring lp and lpt for 3 Port E3 ATM IP (Card in slot No 12) and 32 Port E1 MSA Cards(Card in slot No5)

Prov> add lp/12 Prov> set lp/12 maincard sh ca/12 Prov> set lp/12 logicalprocessortype sw lpt/e3atm Prov> add lp/5 Prov> set lp/5 maincard sh ca/5 Prov> set lp/5 logicalprocessortype sw lpt/ima

Once you have done above configuration using display commands the system will display as under

Prov> d lp/5 Lp/5

Maincard=sh ca/5 Sparecard= Logicalprocessortype=sw lpt/ima

Prov> d lp/12 Lp/12

Maincard=sh ca/12 Sparecard= Logicalprocessortype=sw lpt/e3atm

Prov> d sh ca/5 Sh ca/5

Cardtype =32pe1msa Configuredlp =lp/5 Sparingconnection=

Prov> d sh ca/12 Sh ca/12

Cardtype =3pe3atm Configuredlp =lp/12 Sparingconnection=

In similar way configure all the Logical Processors and Logical Processor Types for the cards.

Once completed use following command Prov> check prov Prov> activate prov Prov> confirm prov

Use commit prov only if you are told to do so

Now the node is ready for further configuration of various services like ATM, FrameRelay, HTDS, IP Voice etc Posted 19th February 2010 by Aryan 2

INSTALLATION OF JUNIPER "OLIVE" IN VMWARE

Make sure you have below ready for installation: 1. VMWare Workstation. 2. Download Free BSD from here. For 9.x Junos you can use 4.11 miniinst.iso which works fine 3. Make sure you have a copy of JUNOS. 4. Download Filezilla from here. Ive copied screenshots here for JUNOS installation, Vmware workstation 8 and Free BSD 4.11 is being used her.

Customize hardware settings here, you can lower RAM after installation

You can select first option here and continue installation,

At the "SysInstall Main Menu" choose "Express - Begin a quick installation (for the impatient)"

At the FDISK Parition Editor type A to use Entire Disk, then type Q to finish For the "Boot Manager" choose "Standard - Install a standard MBR (no boot manager)"For the "Disklabel Editor":

Step 1 of 4: Type C to create, then delete the values and insert 500M , then choose FS (File System), then type /

Step 2 of 4: Type C, delete values, insert 500M , then choose Swap space

Step 3 of 4: Type C, delete values, insert 100M , choose FS, type /config

Step 4 of 4: Type C, accept the values presented with an , choose FS, type /var

Type Q to finish For "Choose Distributions" choose "Exit this menu - returning to previous" (i.e. no need to install any extras)

For "Choose installation media" choose "CD/DVD" At the "User Confirmation Requested" where it asks if you want to proceed with the install, choose "Yes" - Lots of install stuff will now happen At the window where it gives you an opportunity to "Visit the general config menu for a chance to set any last options", choose "Yes" Using the cursor keys, choose "Root password" and enter twice a new 'root' password Using the cursor keys, choose "Interfaces", then choose "em0", for IPv6 choose "no", for dhcp choose "yes", for host put in a dummy name like "olive" then scroll down to "OK" (using DHCP will give you an IP address, allowing you to FTP jinstall images to your Olive machine. If you do not have a DHCP server on your bridged LAN segment, then configure a static IP and default gateway as appropriate) Then choose "Exit", then choose "Exit install" from the SysInstall main menu A final confirmation will ask if you want to reboot, choose "Yes"

Installing JUNOS

At this point, you should have a running FreeBSD virtual machine, which can receive files by FTP from an FTP server that you are hosting a "jinstall" JUNOS image on (which is lower than version 7.4).

Do the following (logged in as root):

cd /var/tmp

ftp e.g. ftp 192.168.1.251

username: anonymous

password: a@b.c

binary

get e.g. get jinstall-5.7R2.4-domestic-signed.tgz

bye

Check file is received: ls -al rm /dev/wd0c ln -s /dev/ad0c /dev/wd0c mkdir /var/etc touch /var/etc touch /var/etc/master.passwd touch /var/etc/inetd.conf touch /var/etc/group

pkg_add /var/tmp/jinstall-5.7R2.4-domestic-signed.tgz

shutdown -r now NOTE: at this point, if you loaded a JUNOS version of below 7.4, then when you reload - you will lose the ability to use any of the virtual NIC cards in this virtual machine When the virtual machine reboots, you may lose access to the CLI dependant on which version you loaded. With a version 5 image, you will still have access, with a higher version, you lose access. The following two sections discuss accessing the virtual machine through the serial port, and then the section following those discusses upgrading the JUNOS version to one higher than 7.4 so the "e1000" virtual NICs can be detected and utilised.

CONFIGURING IP OVER ATM USING 2 PORT ETH100 CARDS FOR IP, ILS FORWARDER CARD AND 3 PORT E3 ATM IP CARD FOR ATM (USING ONE VIRTUAL ROUTER (VR) AND OSPF ROUTING (ONE AREA) PROTOCOL)
IP traffic can be transported over ATM connectivity using ATM Multiprotocol Encapsulation. The IP subnet is configured on one of the Ethernet port of 2 Port

Eth100 FP and ATM interface is configured on one of the port of a 3 Port E3 ATM IP Card. The serial interfaces for WAN connectivity is configured on a virtual router configured in the Passport Node. The connectivity between serial interface on the virtual router to ATM interface is provided using ATMMPE software and using ILS Forwarder Card. The ILS Forwarder card encapsulates the IP packets in to ATM Cells and forwards the same to the destination through 3 Port E3 ATM IP Card. At the destination the ATM Cells received on the ATM interface are forwarded to ATMMPE through ILS Forwarder Card which converts it back to IP Packets and sends it to serial interface for onward dispatch to Ethernet port.
