Adjunct Faculty, Library Media Education Program, Western Kentucky University College of Education and Behavioral Sciences School of Teacher Education, Library Media program: Develop and teach Library Media Education undergraduate and graduate courses. Course descriptions below are from the LME website: www.wku.edu/lme/ LME 502: Collection Management for the School Library Media Specialist (3 hours): Principles of collection management to meet the needs of the school library media program. Evaluation, selection and acquisition of print, non-print and electronic resources. Examination and development of collection policies and procedures, including acceptable use policies and copyright. Developed and taught first completely online course, using Blackboard, v.4.0, v.5.6, v.6.2, v.7 (syllabus available). Taught LME 502 as an adjunct Fall 2002-Summer 2013.

Recognition ERC selected as first site for First Lady Jane Beshears kickoff of statewide tour for Kentucky Literacy Celebration Week, March 4, 2013. Received funding for additional collections for the ERC from CEBS Dean, Dr. Sam Evans, for new Go Math! and Math in Focus textbook collections, 2011-2012. Research/Creative Activity Childrens and Young Adult literature: Developing library collections in various genres for a diverse audience of young readers; encouraging reluctant readers. International library collaborations: From 2005-2008, I was part of an international exchange between WKU-SEK Collegi Catalunya, Spain, to help develop English language school library and classroom collections. Librarians as teachers: Collaboration and research projects in K-12 and postsecondary educational environments. Developing and implementing methods of promoting library services and collections to the community. For example, email newsletters, exhibits and displays, library blogs, etc. Bibliotherapy/reading guidance: Librarians roles in helping young reader s cope with emotional situations by identifying with characters and situations in childrens and young adult literature.

Research Interests

Sponsored Research Support as principal WKU researcher from College of Education and Behavioral Sciences Teacher Quality Funds for continued progress and implementation of the English Language Arts Library Classroom collections project. The ELALC project is an exchange between WKUCol-legi SEK Catalunya, June 2008 and August 2008.
