Join your friends and colleagues on a bus trip to Albany to meet with Pioneer legislators

Why should I travel to Albany to talk with my legislators about library issues?
Libraries need you to speak out for them. Libraries need stable State funding. Legislators need to learn what libraries

NYLAs 2014 Legislative Agenda:


BUDGET PRIORITY Fully fund libraries at $102M as stipulated in Education Law Provide funding to maintain NYSs critical information infrastructure; enable libraries to continue delivering education and enrichment services by addressing critical technology needs. Selected LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES Public Library Construction Aid and Matching Provisions Increase construction aid funding to better align with infrastructure needs, and make permanent current program guidelines on matching requirements to ensure libraries in economically disadvantaged areas are able to make needed capital improvements. Local Government Efficiency Grants Include public library systems as entities that are eligible to apply for local government efficiency grants.

How do I do this?
Sign up for the PLS Advocacy Bus. PLS will make appointments with each of

our legislators. Receive a briefing on the bus. Visit your legislator at the Capitol. Tell him/her how important your library is to the community and its voting citizens. Tell him/her that funding for libraries is ESSENTIAL and CRITICAL.

I will board the bus on February 26 at:
