An Equal Opportunity Employer SALARY: Depends on Qualifications OPENING DATE: 11/07/13 CLOSING DATE: 02/17/1405:00 PM JOB SUMMARY: Department: Computer Science and Information Technology Reports to: Department Chair Classification: Full-Time, Tenure-Track, Faculty, Parkland Academic Employees (PAE) Purpose: Tenure-Track Faculty teach a full-time load as per the Parkland Academic Employees (PAE) bargaining agreement.They advise and mentor students, and participate in governance of their departments and the college. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Instruct students in web technology. Ability to direct the Web program. Expected to help in recruiting and marketing events, student organization activities, and other program activities. Knowledge of the following: o HTML, CSS, Javascript (JQuery, Ajax) o Server Side programming (ASP.NET, Ruby on Rails, PHP, Cold Fusion) o Responsive Design o Device specific development (mobile, tablet, PC, TV) o Web Services (SOAP, JSON, REST) o Web Server Infrastructure (Windows/IIS, Linux/Apache) o Database Infrastructure (Oracle, SQL, NoSQL, MySQL) o Content Management Systems o Multimedia Software (Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop) o Social Network Integration (Facebook, Linked In, Twitter, Youtube) Performs professional duties in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the college. Provides classroom instruction in accordance with the stated philosophy, objectives, and established course outlines of the college. Informs students of course regulations, evaluation procedures, and other information pertinent to the course; prepares a course syllabus for each course and distributes it early

in each term. Is available for student advising/mentoring. Maintains regular office hours to ensure availability for student consultation; provides assistance to students in a timely manner. Maintains accurate scholastic records of students; submits required reports on student progress according to published deadlines. Participates in departmental governance, including curriculum development, instructional materials selection, and academic assessment. Participates in college-wide shared governance, including Parkland College Association (PCA) Senate, its committees, administrative committees, and accreditation committees. Participates in professional development activities related to discipline knowledge and/or teaching skills. Performs other duties as assigned by the department chair. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors Degree. Two (2) years experience in higher education and/or professional experience in designing and managing web sites. Ability to learn the Parkland information system and new programs as technology changes. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Enrolled in a masters program with strong emphasis on web technology.
