After you receive the instructions in the mail, payments will be mailed to the Archdiocese as they hold our parishs account for the Campaign and they will send us report updates systematically. The money collected will be released by the Archdiocese to fund the projects mentioned in the Campaign case. The success of our Campaign depends on the participation of us all. Yours in Christ, Rev. Respect Life
Why do I go there [to pray and protest at abortion mills]? It is because I must, I am a mother and I have the heart of a mother. I know what it is like to have a difficult pregnancy, to have everything far from perfect. I have been through labor (aptly named) and delivery. I've held that new little baby, looked in his eyes and said "Hello little one. Who are you? Let's get to know each other. I am your mother and you are my baby. I love you." - Mary Therese

From the Pastors Desk

Todays Gospel reminds us that we are the salt of the Earth and light of the world. We are the church and we are responsible for its mission to proclaim the Word of God. Every stewardship program is calling us to share with the parish community the gift of time, talent, and treasure. We have parishioners who give more than anyone could expect. Because we are getting older and tired, we need new volunteers for different ministries, especially for Ushers, Greeters, Lectors, and Communion Ministers. Three years ago we had a very well organized ministry fair with the information in the back of the church about different groups and ministries in our parish. Last year we did it through the bulletin announcements for 4 weeks. Unfortunately, we did not have many responses. We are now in desperate need of volunteers for these ministries. I am personally asking you to step up and help me make this parish the best it can be, because I cannot do it alone. We will be praying over this need for the next couple of weekends and there will be a registration form in the bulletin. I want to remind you that our participation in the Catholic Annual Appeal this year has been waived because we are doing the To Teach Who Christ Is Campaign. For the next few weekends when all the parishes of the Archdiocese of Chicago will be doing the Catholic Annual Appeal, we will do the follow-up for our campaign. We will give the opportunity for those who didnt make their pledges yet during the Mass and we will send information packets to those who didnt make a commitment. I hope that you receive your statements and reminders about your commitments regularly. You can use the receipts of your payments as your tax-deductible statement. We are in touch with the Archdiocese construction department regarding the renovation of our church, especially the roof. Some of the regulations and codes have been changed since our last estimates were provided, and we are in the process of sending the updated scope of work to more companies, and then we will be receiving the new estimates to make the final decision. Thank you for your continued support for our church. -Fr. Rich

Art and Film Competition for Children and Youth

The Office of Mission Education for the New Evangelization, under the generous patronage of Cardinal Francis George and Bishop Andrew P. Wypych, invites you to participate in our competition "John Paul II: True Missionary Saint". The aim of the competition is to pay tribute to Blessed John Paul II, who was Pope between 1978 and 2005, as well as inspire children and teens about how he was an exemplary pilgrim Pope and missionary. The competition is offered to students of the Archdiocese of Chicago who are in elementary and high school (both Catholic school and public school students). Students in grades 1-4, 58 and 9-12 are encouraged to create an original, hand-made poster, drawing, or painting that depicts the life of Pope John Paul II as a pilgrim who traveled the world. Older students in grades 5-8 and 9-12 are also asked to create a 2-5 minute video that tells the story of how John Paul made more pilgrimages than any other Pope, how he supported and worked with missionaries, or what his message was for the world. Please refer to the rules of the competition for more specific guidelines. Scroll down to the bottom of this page for educational websites on the life and work of Blessed John Paul II. All entries MUST be sent to the Office of Mission Education for the New Evangelization by March 1, 2014 along with the filled-out Consent Form. Faith can be Funny

A friend was in front of me coming out of church one day, and the preacher was standing at the door as he always is to shake hands. He grabbed my friend by the hand and pulled him aside. The Pastor said to him, "You need to join the Army of the Lord!" My friend replied, "I'm already in the Army of the Lord, Pastor." Pastor questioned, "How come I don't see you except at Christmas and Easter?" He whispered back, "I'm in the secret service.
