The purpose of this assessment is to assess the likelihood of the applicants ability to complete the programme in question with a good result. Calculation of the Grade Point Average 18. The purpose of the calculation of the grade point average, for the qualifying degree, is to evaluate the applicants documented general suitability for study on the basis of the grades obtained by the applicant during the course of his or her qualifying programme/education. (2) Where possible, the grade average for the qualifying degree is calculated as a weighted average and every grade is given a weight according to the weight of the study activity compared to the total degree. This also applies if the qualifying degree is a combination of several programmes. (3) If an applicant has not yet completed the qualifying degree but can be expected to do so before the beginning of the semester, the weighted average of the grades obtained to date for the qualifying degree is used as a basis of the calculation of the grade point average. (4) For applicants whose qualifying degree does not provide the opportunity for the calculation of a grade point average, the grade will not be a part of the assessment. (5) For applicants whose qualifying degree has been issued by a foreign university and contains grades, the IT University will convert these grades into a grade point average based on the grading scales of the specific countries.

Publications, patents, software and other documented relevant output that is not a part of the qualifying degree.

(4) The elements noted in subsection 3 are not exhaustive. (5) The following factors may not be included in the individual assessment:

Grades obtained in the qualifying degree (since they are covered by the calculated grade point average). However, emphasis may be placed on subcomponents if they are of significance for the evaluation of the applicants completion of his or her degree, and the dissemination of the grades may likewise be emphasised. For applicants applying for the Master of Science programme, work experience is only considered as a part of the general academic assessment. Work experience in itself is, therefore not an advantage. Additional circumstances that are obviously irrelevant for the assessment of the application (such as ethnicity and the applicants ranking of programmes etc.)
