How does a quality project look like?

What is not a good proposal

Complex structure;

Division of tasks to be settled during the first project meeting;

Large partnership; Several objectives; Multiple activities;

Trusting key responsibilities to not so experienced partners;

Miraculous oriented projects.

A good proposal, in short

Builds on solid ground (doesnt forget what already exists and what has been achieved before) Goes straight to the point (practical and realistic approach) Provides firm arguments to pave the way for positive changes (delivers concrete and usable outputs)

In detail
A good candidature has the potential to:

Put in place new and relevant partnerships Identify (policy) gaps Settle relevant actions to address on the transnational level in the future

This means
The most adequate partners

Simple, ready to implement, concrete action plan

Focused on clear objective

Concise and reduced number of actions

12 months
Tangible results: List of whats missing; Draft action plans; Preambule of would be developed in the near future

1 year project doesnt mean another ready-to-be-forgotten study!

Partners & partnership

The partners involved should Have the internal competencies to produce state of the art analysis; Demonstrate the capacity to implement the project within the foreseen calendar and respecting the financial engagements; Fit in the program and funding rules; Be involved from the beginning and ready to start the operations from day 1; Be capable of associating, as advisory boards and not operational partners, thematic expert or scientific committees; Form a concise and efficient group.

The budget should be

Realistic

The proposal
A good project proposal identifies The project area: which part(s) of the MED space will be the object of the projects intervention; The methodology to be used in data compilation and sharing, mapping, comparing framework policies, identifying gaps that could be relevantly addressed by transnational cooperation; In the case the partnership is ready to do so and the available data allows it, the project could produce orientations/action plan; Realistic work plan (12 months!) Real transnational and cooperative approach and not the ad-hoc sum of local/regional actions; Concrete, measurable and realistic results thought to be shared with the other projects.

The application form

One Management and one technical component Describe clearly and in a consistent way what is going to be developed. If building upon former MED projects results, describe: relevance to the project how they are going to be used

And dont forget

before submitting your project proposal Give it to someone else to read it; Make sure there isnt any fatal error that can lead to the ineligibility of the application! Would you approve it?
