PADUCAH COOPERATIVE MINISTRY Fresh Start House Manager (February 2014)

Position Summary The Fresh Start House is a structured residential shelter for women re-entering the community in a homeless condition after incarceration. It houses up to eight women. Staff and volunteers supervise the residential program 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The goal of the Fresh Start House program is to provide support, encouragement and resources to empower women to make the positive changes in their lives, step-by-step, to reach a state of healthy self-sufficiency. Position Description The Fresh Start House Manager works with the Program Director, shift employees and volunteers to supervise the daily needs, activities and facility concerns of an 8-bed unit for adult females. Serves the as second in command and as point of authority in the absence of the director. Responsibilities 1. Adheres to and enforces the policies and procedures of the Fresh Start House program. 2. Provides intake and orientation to residents when they arrive. Administers drug screens, monitors medication procedures. 3. Addresses minor disciplinary infractions appropriately, reports major infractions to the Program Director 4. Schedules and supervises program volunteers. Works with volunteers and staff in the development of Life Skills topics and recreational activities, recruiting and scheduling guest presenters 5. Is accountable for the daily whereabouts and schedule of residents leaving the property as well as any transportation arrangements and scheduling of appointments 6. Makes purchases of necessary and approved supplies. 7. Report daily program/resident progress to the Program Director and reports urgent concerns or situations immediately 8. Serves as program authority, person-in- charge when the Program Director is unavailable. 9. Has on-call responsibilities which would necessitate flexible scheduling including some weekends and/or evening hours. 10. Responds to all other duties as required by the FSH Director.

Requirements 1. Must have a valid drivers license, a good driving record and reliable transportation 2. Must be able to pass a drug test and undergo a criminal background check 3. Must be over the age of 25 4. Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal skills 5. Basic computer skills 6. Above average organizational skills Experience in one or more of the following preferred 1. Residential living supervision 2. Corrections 3. Substance abuse treatment program 4. Mental health care or counseling program 5. Adult education 6. Work in a Mission field Education College degree in a human services field preferred Recognizable Life Experience
