29 September 2013 Invitation to ALSA Conference 2014 The Asian Law Students Association (ALSA) is a not-for-profit student-run association of law student organisations, and is an internationally registered NGO. Its goals are to showcase the promising future of Asia, promote an awareness of justice, and to allow law students to recognise their social responsibilities as future lawyers and leaders of society. ALSA has fourteen member chapters in regions and countries across Asia, with one observer group, and international partners in Europe and Australia. ALSA Singapore is proud to host the ALSA Conference from 3-8 January 2014. The ALSA Conference is Asias largest conference for law students, and is one of the highlights of the annual ALSA calendar. ALSA Conference 2014 focuses on the theme of Asian integration, aligned with the goals of regional cooperation such as the ASEAN Community 2015. The academic programmes will involve an examination of the issues that Asian countries can collectively address, and the framework through which Asian integration can progressively occur. These issues include human trafficking, maritime piracy, environmental law, intellectual property and privacy law. ALSA Conference 2014 will also provide delegates with an unparalleled insight into the fastpaced legal industry in Singapore. As a dynamic and open legal market, delegates will benefit from firsthand knowledge of the Singapore legal system and an enhanced awareness of the global nature of legal practice in the coming years. To realise this vision, an international commercial arbitration moot competition will be held concurrently: the Herbert Smith Freehills - ALSA Moot Competition 2014. Aside from the academic programme, delegates will experience Singapores diverse food culture and have the opportunity to visit Universal Studios Singapore, nature trails, immersing themselves in Singapores vibrant city life. The Organising Committee officially extends an invitation to all ALSA National and Local Chapters to participate in ALSA Conference 2014 as delegates, moot participants, Governing Council representatives, and alumni. We welcome all enquiries at alsa.singapore@gmail.com, and we look forward to seeing you at the ALSA Conference 2014! Best regards, ALSA Conference 2014 Organising Committee ALSA Singapore
