INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS TO FIT C5 BRAKES ON A C4 CATALOG #22500 (85-87) and 22501 (88-96)

Step 3 Remove the old rotor as shown in Figure 2. Step 4 Install the new VBP sport rotor. Note that each rotor is marked RF, LF. Step 5 Install the included VBP wheel adapter on all 85-87 Corvettes as shown in Figure 3. This ensures the proper wheel offset for 17 wheels. Torque adapter lugs to 90 ft lbs. Step 6 - Install the bracket onto the C4 spindle and secure with two 13/16 bolts from the kit as shown in Figure 4. Torque to 170 ft lbs. Step 7 Install the lower pad anti-rattle clip onto the caliper bracket as shown in Figure 5.

Step 9 - Install the new Hawk brake pads on the inside and outside of the caliper bracket as shown in Figure 6. Hold the upper pad anti-rattle bracket in place during pad installation.
Step 10-Install the supplied anti-rattle pad clip into the caliper as shown in Figure 7. Once it is snapped in place the caliper is ready to be installed.

Step 11 - Install the caliper from the bottom first as shown in Figure 8. Slide the caliper over the pads and push onto the rotor. Step 12 - Insert the two 15 mm guide pins into the caliper. Insert a thin walled 16mm open-end wrench on the guide pin bolt while tightening the guide pin as shown in Figure 9. Tighten the 15mm guide pin to 25 ft lbs of torque. Step 13 - Remove the brake line retaining clip and Remove the old brake line from the 12 mm steel brake line as shown in Figure 10.

Step 14 - Reinstall the new line and tighten to 20 ft lbs of torque. Use a wrench on the top And a 12 mm wrench on the bottom. Do not over tighten. Step 15- Insert the 15 mm bolt into the stainless steel line. Install two cooper washers included in the kit. Install brake onto the back of the new caliper as shown in Figure 11. Tighten to 20 ft lbs of torque. Step 16 - Remove the cap on the master cylinder reservoir. Bled the brakes according to the GM service manual while adding clean brake fluid to the reservoir. Step 17 - The project is completed. Step 18- Reinstall the wheels and torque the lug nuts to 100 ft lbs of torque. Road test the vehicle and take time to carefully bed the new brake pads in before making aggressive stops and then enjoy your C5 brakes!
