What a wonderful time of year! Students have become independent and can virtually run the classroom by themselves. Thanks for all of your support over the year. Our joint efforts are really paying off. The students are surprising me everyday with their mature comments, kindness for each other (well most of the time :-) and how quickly they are picking up new concepts especially compared to the beginning of the year. Take a moment with your child to have a little celebration of what they have learned this year. You and he/she certainly deserve it. Looking forward to seeing you at the show on Friday! Monday Reading Word Study: Look for the words on a calendar. Where else can you find the days of the week? Math: Practice time to the quarter hour. Practice reading graphs. Some graphs are attached from basic to more challenging. Encourage your child to work where they are comfortable and attempt a small challenge. Research: Search for pictures/ diagrams/ photos for your non-fiction book. Tuesday Reading Math: Continue reading graphs and practicing telling time to the quarter hour. Think about different language used with quarter hour time. EG quarter past, quarter after, 8 fifteen, fifteen minutes past, quarter to, quarter before Practice counting by 25s. You can use your number chart to help you. What is half of 50? What is double 25? What is ! of 100? What is " of 100? What is double 50? How many quarters make $1.00? What is half of $1.00? What is ! of $1.00? Do you see any patterns? Wednesday Reading Word Study: Write the days of the week in something fun such as playdough, paint or shaving cream. Remember days of the week always begin with a Capital. Math: Continue improving your speed and accuracy with single digit addition. Play Addition Top it or any other games that help you to practice in a fun way.

Thursday Reading Word Study: What other words can you think of that contain day? (EG daylight) Math: Practice counting by 25s. You can use your number chart to help you. What is half of 50?
