MESSAGE FROM PROFESSOR KEVIN B NOLAN DIRECTOR OF SCHOOL OF POSTGRADUATE STUDIES The School of Postgraduate Studies is the conduit for 4th level education at RCSI. The School oversees higher degrees (PhD, MD, MCh and MSc) by research as well as taught Masters programmes, postdoctoral training and workshops for supervisors and thesis examiners. We strive to ensure that all these activities are carried out to the highest standards and that appropriate codes of practice are followed. The School of Postgraduate Studies assists postgraduates to become fully incorporated into life at RCSI and ensures that they are afforded an optimum environment for personal, scholarly and career development. The School aims to enhance the quality of all aspects of the postgraduate experience, both academic and social. We are delighted to work with the Postgraduate Students Union (PGSU), which promotes peer interaction through organised activities and meetings. Details concerning postgraduate training, both through research and taught programmes, are addressed in the following pages and on our web site. If you have any questions we would be delighted to hear from you.

All queries, from minor to major dealt with by Course Director very promptly and full support available Library facilities excellent including ongoing contact after graduation. Moodle excellent and a real advantage for those outside Dublin as all material readily accessible Programme very well organised with a strong emphasis on communication. Its great having 3 lab rotations because I was able to try a project that I otherwise wouldnt have. I like the fact that I now know several PIs and their areas of expertise; you never know when I might want to discuss research with them later during my PhD. I really loved the translational element of my project.
Building on our heritage in surgery, we will enhance human health through endeavour, innovation and collaboration in education, research and service
