UPDATING OF THE TRS-5000 MACHINE FOR TP-16/14 (Ver.2.08)

First of all please do download the necessary files which you will find in the publicity of the NEW UPDATE 2.08 at the JMA website (www.jma.es) . (To download the Software CLICK here).

When you click on the download the message below will appear. Click on Execute.

Then, the message below will appear. Execute.

Finally, click Accept.

In this way, you will have all the necessary files for the updating downloaded in C:/TRS5000/208

Procedure for updating the TRS-5000. 1) Install the TRS-5000 PC software (trs5000.exe). 2) Install the USB drivers (TRS52X_USBdriver.hex ) in the TRS-5000. (Only if the version of the TRS-5000 is earlier than 2.0) 3) Install the latest update (trs5208.bin). 4) Load the updated texts. 1. INSTALLING THE TRS-5000 PC SOFTWARE (trs5000.exe)

WARNING: Before starting with the installation all files must remain CLOSE. 1.1 Install the latest available version (trs5000.exe), after uploading it and storing it in C:/TRS5000/208.(

If there is not a previous PC version of the TRS-5000 installed, please follow as specified below. Otherwise, start from the point 1.2. A) The usual menu displayed for all first-time installations of the PC Software will appear (trs5000.exe). Press Next.

B) When you have begun the installation, select the desired language and the directory you wish to store the program in. Press Next.

C) If the following window appears, click on Next.

D) When the automatic installation is complete, click on Finish. The TRS-5000 PC software will now be available. You will now need to REBOOT your COMPUTER.

Once the computer restarts follow on point n.2.

INSTALLING THE USB DRIVERS (TRS52X_USBDRIVER.HEX ) IN THE TRS-5000. (ONLY IF THE TRS-5000 VERSION IS EARLIER THAN 2.0)

To update the TRS-5000 firmware, check which version you have on you rmachine (to do this, switch on the TRS and the Version will appear on the display). If the version is 2.0 or newer (2.01 2.02), follow the instructions from point 3 onwards. Otherwise, continue with point 2.1. 2.1 Switch on the TRS-5000 and connect your device to the computer via the RS232 serial cable.

Open the TRS-5000 PC Software

(located on your PC desktop).

Go to OPTIONS men, clic on the SETTINGS section, located on the COMMUNICATION

Located on the COMMUNICATION PORT tab, select the serial communication port COM1, ............................which will appear by default.

(NOTE: Depending on the programs you have installed and the ports they use by default, a different port will be assigned for each user when the TRS-5000 connection is made (all of them have the COM serial symbol to their left).

2.3 When you have selected the port click on the button START COMMUNICATION via serial line with the TRS-5000. (Check the PC-TRS5000 communication is correct by observing that the green COM LED in the bottom left hand corner is on). When communication has been established, click on OK to hide the PROGRAM OPTIONS menu.

To begin uploading the USB drivers, goto OPTIONS meny, select the UPLOAD PROGRAM section, and then upload the continuacin TRS52X_USBdriver.hex from its current location C:/TRS5000/208. Once selected the file (TRS52X_USBdriver.hex) press Open.

To send the file to the TRS-5000 switch off the machine and then Reboot the TRS5000 pressing and holding down the buttons READ and COPY.

To execute the file upload, click on the UPLOAD button, which will have been automatically enabled.

When the upload of the file is complete, press Exit.

When the upload is complete, the following messages will appear successively on the TRS-5000 until you upload the second and final part of the firmware. USB DRIVERS Loaded

Before closing the TRS-5000 PC software, make sure you have closed the communications port (on the OPTIONS menu, select SETTINGS, AND THEN CLICK ON THE STOP COMMUNICATION button).

You can check that the TRS-5000 has been correctly disconnected from the PC by observing that the COM LED in the bottom left hand corner, which was previously green, is now red. Press OK to hide the PROGRAM OPTIONS menu. 2.7 Disconnect the RS232 cable shown on the picture below:

INSTALLING THE LATEST UPDATE (TRS5208.BIN). 3.1 Connect the TRS5000 to the PC using the A-B type USB cable supplied.

If you are installing the PC software in your computer for the first time, the installation will be slightly different from usual, and the procedure and the menus will be those shown below. Otherwise, continue on point 3.2.

3.1.1. On this first menu, select the first option, NOT AT THIS MOMENT, and click on NEXT to proceed with the installation.

Then select the section INSTALL THE SOFTWARE AUTOMATICALLY (Recommended) and click on NEXT to continue.

Then click on the button CONTINUE ANYWAY. The USB driver will then be automatically installed.

3.1.4. To complete the process for adding a new device, click on the button FINISH.

3.1.5

If any version of the PC software has previously been installed, the wizard for new hardware found will not appear, and you should proceed by following the steps from point 4 onwards.

3.2 Then, in the TRS-5000 software

(located on your PC desktop), on the

OPTIONS menu, in the SETTINGS section located on the COMMUNICATION PORT tab, select the RELOAD COM PORT LIST button which reloads the new virtual USB generated for the TRS-5000 on the drop-down menu. In this example and for this PC it would be COM3.

(NOTE: Depending on the programs you have installed and the ports they use by default, a different port will be assigned for each user when the TRS-5000 connection is made (all of them have the USB serial symbol to their left.))

3.3 When you have selected the port, click on the button START COMUNICATION. The dialogue via USB with the TRS-5000 is established.

3.4 Lastly, to complete the update process, on the OPTIONS menu, click on UPLOAD PROGRAM, click on UPLOAD button and open (trs5208.bin) file.

Once selected the file click on UPLOAD button to upload the current version for the firmware (trs5208.bin),.located in C:/TRS5000/208

When the upload is finished, click on Exit.

Before continuing with the following steps, the COMMUNICATION PORT should be closed: go to OPTIONS, SETTINGS and press the STOP COMUNICATION button. The LED COM should turn on red now.

LOADING THE UPDATED TEXTS (IDIOMA_TRS_V2_08.TXT.

In order to include both the current firmware maintenance and the new developments on the TRS5000 display when you are working without a PC connection, you should upload the following text update with each new firmware review. First of all we should restart the communication with the TRS-5000 machine as shown on points 3.2 and 3.3 (Pag.13). Once we check that the LED COM is in green, select OPTIONS, LANGUAGES, press UPLOAD PROGRAM button and look for file C:/TRS5000/208/EURO_TXT. Select the desired language for the text (For instance. ENGLISH = ENG_TRS_V2_08.txt.) and press OK.

Click on UPLOAD so to install the text file LANGUAGE_TRS_V2_08.txt.,.

To complete the upload, click on Exit.
