What is CASG?
CASG is the Carleton Academic Student Government and as such sometimes has the
acronym CASG. CASG is given power by the University Senate to elect students in
all departments across campus to their respective departmental boards. Before it's
reform, CASG was the New University Government (NUG).
FASS Representatives:
Once you are elected to CASG, you are responsible for attending department and
faculty board meetings (the frequency of meetings depends upon the nature of your
department or faculty and as need arises) as well as CASG general meetings (twice
a semester).
- All Student Representatives are encouraged to take on one and only one major
project each year relating to student issues at Carleton, for instance changing a
problem course within their program, sitting on a University-wide committee or
pushing for other academic reforms.
---
You are expected to attend as many meetings as possible. If for any legitimate
reason you are unable to attend, please forward your regrets to both Faculty
Coordinators (as soon as possible). A total of three absents (with no regrets) is
inexcusable. Therefore, should this be the case, you will no longer serve as a
CASG student representative.
