If you havent joined us yet, come and see what all the fuss is about! What is better than a nice warm meal that you dont prepare yourself!? There are exciting things happening here at Baughman.

MISSIONS WINTER PICNIC

HEY! ARE YOU IN THE WINTER DOLDRUMS? Missions will again be holding our annual WINTER PICNIC on Sunday, March 2, 2014, after the 11 am service, in the gym. There will be all that good picnic food to eat: hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, fruit salad, baked beans, deviled eggs, chocolate cake and other desserts. How can you turn that down? Doesn't it just make your mouth water and bring memories of blue skies and warm air to sustain you through the next few months? Feel free to dress in summer wear. The lunch is free. Please bring a non perishable food item for The Bridge Food Pantry. There will be a tear-off in the Bulletin for reservations closer to the event. Please place your reservation in the collection plate or call the church office by Monday, Feb. 23, 2014

We are making progress!

Our 2014 goal to bring in 250 guests has been going strong! We welcomed 18 guests in January. Weve got the number down to

250

232!

Continue to invite your friends and neighbors to come and experience the warmth that is Baughman Methodist Church. Invite them to come and experience the love of God here in our midst! The countdown continues!

LOCAL BUSINESS INTRODUCTIONS DURING WORSHIP As part of our 2014 goal to welcome 250 guests/ visitors, local business owners will be invited to worship with us at Baughman and during our announcements to stand up and offer a 30 second introduction of him/herself and what their business is all about. By doing this the business owners will learn about Baughman and get to experience BMUMCs worship and community for themselves.

SUCCESS!

OUR ELEVATOR IS OPERATIONAL!

Hallelujah! Were all set! It passed the state inspection, and it is ready to take everyone upstairs and downstairs to fully enjoy all of our beautifully renovated space! The second floor will house our adult classes. The third floor will house the childrens classes. Remember! No one class owns any one room. We are not to be territoried. The rooms will be used and occupied as needed. If you havent ventured upstairs yet, please do! The rooms are wonderful.

Valentines Sunday
Renew your marriage vows Sunday, February 16th as part of our Sunday morning worship services. At the conclusion of each worship service, (8:30, 9:45, 11:00), couples will be invited forward to hold hands and renew their wedding vows. You can dress up for the occasion (wear your wedding dress) or you can come as you are. It will be a warm hearted celebration of our most sacred earthly commitment. Bring in your wedding pictures this Sunday and next so that we can post them on the Bulletin Board.

Why Give Money to Baughman?

Pastor, someone asked recently, why should I give my money to Baughman Church, as opposed to the United Way, the Salvation Army, or the American Cancer Society? Good question! Heres the answer. Last Sunday (Jan 26th) Baughman UMC had 200 men, women, and children worshipping the Lord Jesus. During the sermon Win shared scriptures from the Bible reassuring you that God can be trusted to provide. The Sunday before (Jan 19th) Win challenged you to take off spiritually. The Sunday before that (Jan 12th) Win asked what difference Jesus makes in your life. Now, who else in your life asks you such questions, and encourages/challenges you to grow spiritually? Who else is teaching you the Bible? Last Wednesday Baughman UMC had over 120 people sharing warm fellowship on the coldest night of the year. No drinking. No drugs. No sex. No violence. Just good, wholesome fellowship with people who care. Where else but the local church do you find such healthy fellowship? In December a homeless couple came to our Church office desperate for help. Theyve worshipped at Baughman UMC ever since. They feel reconnected with God, and they have hope. Who else but the local Church does such spiritual work? Last Sunday there were 37 children in Sunday School. Sunday night there were 16 students at Youth Group. Tuesday night there were 50+ kids at Club Impact. Where else but the local church are these kids going to learn about Jesus? So far weve had 18 new visitors come through our doors to worship with us for the first time in 2014. We dont know their stories yet, but I know for a fact that one of them is without God, and theyve come to Baughman to find Him. The United Way and the American Cancer Society doesnt share God with others. We do! Yesterday, Baughman UMC hosted the funeral of June Kearns. We celebrated her life, and shared the gospel of Jesus Christ with all those who attended. Afterwards, we hosted a reception for her family. Who else offers this kind of care? The local church is the front line of the spiritual battle in our world. This is where people are won to Jesus. This is where people learn to forgive, grow in grace, let go of their sins, strengthen their families, and grow in the wisdom of God. No other institution does this but the local church. Is Baughman worthy of your investment? You bet it is! We are growing the Kingdom of God, beating back the devil, and rescuing families in distress. We are sharing Jesus, teaching the Bible, and offering hope to those who are empty. We are busy fulfilling the very mission we have been directed to fulfill TO MAKE DISCIPLES OF JESUS CHRIST FOR THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE WORLD! Do you know of any other organization who does this kind of work? If so, by all means, give to them as well. Yes, we are worthy of the best you can give.
