Country Overview
Summary: Approximately eight grants for teaching or teaching/research Program Overview: Higher education in Romania has undergone deep structural changes in the past 20 years, having changed from a small state-
controlled system before 1990 to a more competitive one with a larger number of students and growing research activities. The quality of the higher education sector is expected to improve in the coming years due to legislated educational reforms and increased funding. The Fulbright Program in Romania started in 1960 and has contributed to the democratization of the country. The Program is highly appreciated and valued in Romania.
