Seniors Home Care Is Proud To Be Celebrating Its 26th Year In Business

Over 26 years ago, Kit Whittington, R.N., BSN, was the primary caregiver for her grandmother. Whittington was the only family available to assist with her care and because she also worked full time, acting as the primary caregiver grew increasingly difficult. She knew this was an unsustainable lifestyle and hired an independent caregiver to assist her. She soon discovered that her grandmother was not receiving the level of care she deserved. Cindy Francis joined the Creve Coeur office of HearUSA in January 2013 as a hearing instrument specialist, helping clients enhance their quality of life with improved hearing. The office offers free hearing evaluations, hearing aids and accessories. Working in the hearing health care field is very rewarding, not only for the ability to help improve quality of life with better hearing, but also for developing friendships with those I help, said Francis. Before coming to HearUSA, Francis worked for six years at Viers Hearing Center in Kirkwood. She previously spent two years as an apprentice in her mothers Southeast Missouri practice. New technology in hearing instruments has greatly improved patient satisfaction and allows us to fit most hearing losses, Francis said. Some of the new equipment available includes wireless ear-to-ear communication and Bluetooth technology. Hearing is the key to actively participate in the world around us, Francis said. Dr. Antonella Quattromani, Electrophysiologist Leads Premiers Cardiology Team

Antonella Quattromani, M.D., MBA, FACC, leads the Advanced Heart and Vascular team with more than 25 years of experience. She specializes in electrophysiology patients with advanced cardiac and rhythm disorders. Dr. Quattromani also specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of POTS syndrome. Dr. Quattromani graduated from the University of Perugia, Italy, and attended medical school in Italy. She completed research and cardiology fellowships at Washington University in St. Louis. In addition to working in hospital practices, Dr. Quattromani has held several teaching positions, including associate professor of medicine and medical director of Saint Louis Universitys electrophysiology lab. One of the most highly respected electrophysiologists in St. Louis, she has trained many area cardiologists on techniques to treat patients at risk for sudden cardiac death. Bryan Piotrowski, M.D., Sees Cardiology Patients In St. Louis, Farmington

Bryan Piotrowski, M.D., a cardiologist with Advanced Heart and Vascular, performs cardiac and vascular procedures in the ofce and hospital. Audiologist Susan Hamilton, MS CCC-A, opened her HearUSA practice in Shrewsbury in 2013 providing hearing health care and related products. Hamilton offers audiological evaluations and fits patients for hearing aids and hearing health care products, including assistive listening devices, alerting systems, hearing protection devices and hearing aid accessories and batteries It typically takes the average adult seven to 10 years before seeking help for their hearing loss, because it is often a gradual process, according a 2003 report in JAMA, the Journal of the American Medical Association. Hearing loss is truly the invisible handicap as it is nearly impossible to see an individuals hearing loss by looking at someone, Hamilton said. After a conversation, it can be more noticeable than hearing aids themselves. She received bachelors degrees in nuclear medicine and speech and hearing sciences from the University of Oklahoma and Southern Illinois UniversityEdwardsville, respectively. She holds a masters degree in audiology from Washington University.
