IMFORMATION SHEET FOR UNDERGRADUATE APARTMENTS WORK-STUDY OFFICE STAFF APPLICATION PROCESS

Along with completing the online application, you should email your resume to Victoria Wilson at Victoria.wilson@unh.edu All applicants must be assigned to a space in either the Woodside or Gables apartments for the 2014-2015 academic year. Work study is required for all applicants. You may be contacted via phone or email for an interview by one of our staff. However, not everyone will be interviewed. Interviews will be held on a rolling basis and will continue until all available positions are filled.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The UNH Undergraduate Apartments operate two offices during the academic year. The main office is located on the ground floor of B Building of the Gables and the second office is located in the Woodside Community Center. The Gables office is staffed during the week by three full-time managers, an administrative assistant and the Community Assistants. On the weekend the Gables office is staffed by student work study and Community Assistant staff. During the week the Woodside office is staffed by one full-time manager, Community Assistants and the student work study staff. On the weekend the Woodside office is staffed by the Community Assistants and student work study staff. During curtailed operations it is expected that student office staff work as scheduled. The only exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis by the supervisor. The first month of employment will focus on training and serve as a trial employment period. The goal of the trial period is to ensure quality and uniform customer service. During this trial period the supervisor is expected to address any and all examples of the employee failing to meet expectations and the employee is expected to ask any and all questions that he or she may have of the supervisor. Minimum Qualifications/Requirements: Applicants must have been awarded Federal Work-Study for the Academic Year in which they will work. (Please note that this is a non-negotiable requirement. To check on work-study funds, please call or visit the UNH Financial Office). Applicants must reside in and have a familiarity with the UNH Undergraduate Apartments (i.e. know the location of the various buildings, offices and lounges). Applicants must be in good academic standing.

Applicants must be willing to work at either the Woodside of Gables offices regardless of which complex the applicant resides in. Applicants must have experience with, or be willing to learn, the UNH land-line telephone system, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Access and the MR FAMIS Online System. Applicants must demonstrate a strong attention to detail and a desire to provide excellent customer service.

Additional Desirable Qualifications: Prior work experience with the Department of Housing. Prior work experience as a Resident Assistant or Community Assistant. Prior work experience in a customer service or office setting. Prior work experience answering telephones, taking messages and transferring calls to appropriate offices. Description of Duties: Sort and deliver mail. Document, sort and deliver packages. Provide general office support. Answer telephones, take messages, connect callers with the appropriate staff members. Recognize the difference between emergency and non-emergency maintenance requests and submit maintenance requests accordingly. Monitor paper supplies and respond to printing difficulties that occur in the computer clusters. Issue temporary access cards and loaner keys in accordance with Department of Housing policies and procedures. Conduct inventories of key boxes at the start and end of shift. Attend staff meetings and other trainings as assigned by supervisor. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Compensation: $8 per hour for new employees Professional Development & Teambuilding opportunities Period of Employment: For all applicants the period of employment shall be set on a case-by-case basis by supervisor. Regardless of when the applicant is hired employment is contingent on the completion of a one month trial employment period as described above. All student employment is on an academic year basis and does not automatically carry over into subsequent academic years, break periods or summer.
