Penelope, Im writing you this letter because I want to express to you how honored I am to be your God-mother.

Although you have only just turned one year old and this letter may seem too soon to write, I plan on sharing this with you when you receive the sacrament of Confirmation. First, I want you to know how wonderful it feels being chosen by your mom and dad to be your Godmother. In my opinion, there is no greater compliment than to be given this opportunity to witness your journey through faith. As your God-mother I will always be there for you when you have questions and do my best to always provide answers. I will guide you in your faith and lead you by example. I will strive to always be half the woman, I am certain you will become. I am only 19 years old writing this letter and so far, my God-mother and I have never had a single conversation about spiritual life or what it means to be a God-parent. I promise to you that I will be different, I will be your friend, your role model and always, your aunt. I look forward to the day that you fully acknowledge Jesus Christ on your own. I look forward to the day that you feel the Holy Spirit all around you and know He is with you. More than anything, I look forward to the day that you come to me and confide in me. In the Catholic Herald, Fr. William Saunders says, godparents serve a special role in the life of the baptized person.
Therefore, each parent should choose a godparent not just because of a blood relationship or friendship; rather, a godparent should be a trustworthy witness of the faith who will help the godchild attain salvation. I agree with his statement and I plan on doing my very best to be that person in your life, Penelope. I will always encourage you to be the best you can be and

to chase your biggest dreams, but never boys.

I feel as though it is important that I express to you how valuable and fleeting time is. Most importantly, I want to remind you that time spent with the Lord is that of the most valuable. Be humble, Penelope. Remember that anything worth having is worth fighting for and that is your relationship with God. I remember how it felt the first time I turned to God for help and I can assure you, there is no peace or measure of being contempt that could ever even compare to sitting before the Lord and praying. You will be tested as you continue to grow up, but remember that this life is earthly and temporary. However, this life is purposeful and filled with intentions. Dont ever feel discouraged because when it feels like theres nothing more to give or when the stresses of life try to bring you down, always know that He is with you. Lastly, I want you to know how wonderful your parents are and how truly blessed you are to have them. I can say so myself, that I am so blessed to have your father as my brother and your mother as a best friend. They would do anything for you Penelope, dont ever take them for granted. Even when you feel like they arent being fair, I want you to remember that other than the Lord himself, the two people in this world who want nothing but the best for you are your mom and dad.

I love you, TT Bri Bri
