Issue 23 5th March 2014

Dear Parents, WELL DONE! A phenomenal achievement by Kian from Leopards and by Katie from Jaguars for achieving their 1 mile swimming badge. Well done! WORLD BOOK DAY TOMORROW, Thursday March 6 we would like to mark the importance of books and would love to invite all children to come prepared for bed with a favourite bedtime story . Children are invited to come to school in warm pyjamas, dressing gowns, slippers etc. (children may wish to come to school in their shoes however). We would like children to share their stories during the course of the day with children with other age groups. To mark this event, we have also arranged for a super storyteller called Rogan Mills, who will be spending time with different classes throughout th the day on the 10 March. We hope the children enjoy this experience. ROTARY CLUB RIBBLE RIDE OR STRIDE The Rotary Club of South Ribble will be hosting a few events on Sunday 4 May. There will be events starting in Miller Park in Preston including a 3.5 mile family walk from Miller Park, a 9 mile walk around Penwortham Boundary and a 21 mile Cycle Ride round the Guild Wheel. You can enter on the day starting from 10.00 am to 1.00pm, Adults and juniors over 10 2 entry, under 11 are free. For more information go to www.rideorstride.org.uk or telephone 07974309096. TH

MARCH 3.15-4.00PM

John Doyle from Lostock Hall Academy would like to join us on Thursdays after school to lead a band. Children who have been learning how to play a brass instrument in year 4 will be our first members and I would love to see lots of interest from our year 4 children if they wish to enhance their musical ability. It would be lovely to see this band flourish and grow as we move into next year and gradually take on children from the next year 4. Please let the school office know if your child wishes to take part in this new club.
