Case Analysis No. 1 A. History/Background Respondent: Shawn, Male; Grade 2 Shawn is a Grade two pupil, he is the only child of his parents but in spite of it, his parents dont seem to have interest to take care of him. When he was 1 year old, his biological parents left him to other coupledom that he acknowledged as his second parents. His second mother treats him well but his second father doesnt. One day, while Shawn is playing with his companions he intentionally threw the other pair of a boys slippers because of petty quarrel. When his second father heard of what he did, he got angry to him and forced him to bring to DSWD. Shawn stayed at DSWD place for few weeks and moved him to PREDA where he stayed for another weeks, then later on he moved to Jireh Childrens Home because he didnt commit any serious crime that the children at PREDA does. At present, Shawn is still at Jireh Home and attending school at Hanniel Christian Academy.

B. Problem Shawn is already 10 years old but he is still in Grade two. Though he seems full of life, he is not happy living away from his parents. C. Solution (From Client) He promised to himself that he would be a good boy and do his best to finish his studies and to be successful and financially stable someday. He will do his best and be obedient to his house parent at Jireh Home. (From Researchers) As a counselor, we come up into a solution wherein we would like to suggest to this specific case. We would go and find who his guardian/parents were before in order to let them know that Shawn must be on their custody because it is better for the child to be raised in a family rather than in a foster home, for the child needs the love and care of people who really care for him. And we would like to encourage Shawn to be a good child for him to attain his dreams in life, keep praying and do not lose hope.

D. Research According to U. S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2007 a report by the may put to rest many of the arguments or concerns about adoptions impact on children growing up adopted.

Case Analysis No. 2 A. History/Background Respondent: Maybeline, Female; Grade 3 Maybeline is an eight-year-old who belongs to a big family with her father, mother and other four siblings. Four years ago, her father died when she was two years old, since then her mother work hard to raise them. However, because her mother is the only one who works for them, not all their needs can provide. Because of this, her mother decided to bring them to Jireh Home and told them that they must stay there because no one will look after them while she is working. Leaving them no other choice, Maybeline stay in Jireh Home with other three siblings, their eldest sister is with their mother to help her working. At present Maybeline is a Grade three pupil at Hanniel Christian Academy.

B. Problem Maybeline and her other three siblings were unhappy because it has been four years the last time they saw their mother and their eldest sister. C. Solution (From Client) She will study hard to finish her studies to be able for her to find stable job in the future and to help her mother in providing the needs of their family. She will obey her house parent and do her household chores. (From Researchers) On this case, we would like to suggest that Maybeline should stay at Jireh because this place where she can study and provide her needs. Rather than to stay on their house wherein no one will take care if her, and also we would like to insist to her that it is okay to stay there for the meantime at least her other sister also stay there. And do not lose her hope that someday will come that she will no longer stay at a foster home.

D. Research According to Bennett Olshaker, MD. In his paper "What shall We Tell the Kids", he notes that the adopted person has to contend with the feeling that he was abandoned, but we can try to help him in a positive manner by portraying his natural parents in a positive manner. He goes on to say that some adoptive parents may feel that their childs' parents were immoral for having a child out of wedlock. These sentiments create difficulties for the parents when the child has questions regarding sexual matters.
