have stolen a 10-tonne steel pedestrian bridge. This was another in the latest case of scrap metal heists in the country, police said. "The police know the identity of thieves - an investigation is underway," local police officer said. Using a crane, the group of thieves dismantled the bridge. They also took about 200 metres of railway track using a crane. The bridge was part of a derelict local railway line. The thieves even tricked the police. Police officers did a routine check when the thieves were pulling down the bridge. They showed forged documents these said that they were working on a new bicycle path. The stolen metal is valued at about 4800 euro ($US6150). Crimes like this are very common in the Czech Republic. Scrap dealers pay a lot of money for scrap metal. There is a growing army of metal thieves.
