Job Title: Country: Senior Nurse Kenya

Vacancy Description (Important Note Position open to Kenya nationals only) Reports to: Centre Manager Job Summary It is a supervisory role thus the position holder will be responsible for control of medical operations in line with the safe centre objectives. Main Duties & Responsibilities o o o o o o o o o o o o Delivering a professional and high standard of nursing care within the safe house while leading a team of nurses in delivering projects and team targets; Ensuring proper documentation, maintaining proper records, confidentiality, and handing over between shifts at all times; Preparing, implementing and monitoring duty rotas including client medical reports. Ensures staff performance working within his/her scope of professional responsibility is in line with facility and Ministry of Health (MOH) policies, procedures and standards. Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with clients and other so as to understand specific care requirements. Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to clients. Promotes patient's independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patient to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations by all health care personnel. Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to ensure high quality client care. Promotes an environment which maximizes clients safety by utilizing infection control practices and patients safety programs. Utilizes and ensures maintenance of equipment and instruments as appropriate. Performs other job related duties as assigned

Qualifications: Education: o o o o Must have a Diploma in Nursing from a recognised institution. Must be a registered Nurse with the Nursing Council of Kenya. Must have at least 5-6 years experience as a nurse or nursing aide. Be a registered member of Kenya Registered Community of Health Nurses (KRCHN).

Skills and Competency Requirements: o o o o o o o o Knowledge and ability in hospital settings and/or safe house will be a distinctive advantage. Must have wide knowledge and ability of attending patients. Knowledge and ability to perform hospital errands particularly changing beddings and disinfecting used rooms/bedding. Ability to assist patients to bathe and help them dress and undress. Knowledge and ability to take blood pressures, temperatures and check other vital signs. Ability to communicate well. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial. Ability to work with diverse population.
