Wb In the name of Allah, the most gracious and the most merciful, because of Him, we can see each other and Im able to speak and stand in front of you all. First of all Id like to deliver my best gratitude to the honorable judges and committee who have given me opportunity to deliver some words. In this occasion, Id like to explain about the influence of information and communication technology (ICT) toward local culture. Happy brothers and sisters Human have been using technology to communicate, from the very simple shape such as a letter until a very modern one like email and mobile phone. According to Collin Cherry (1957) the concept of communication includes all of those processes by which people influence one another. While technology is used and produced to facilitate and improve the performance of a product, human use technology because with their mind they want to solve their problems, to live better, to establish social relationships with other people, to be more secure, and so on. However, we must remember that the development of communication technology has positive and negative effects. The positive effects are: 1. Information can be published and accepted directly by society. 2. Social relations between societies can take place anywhere and anytime. 3. Socialization of government policy can be delivered to the public quickly. 4. There is sharing culture between regions. Meanwhile, the negative effects of communication technology on social life are: 1. Most of teenager forget even dont know about their local culture and norm. 2. Technology arise the possibility of new crimes that harm society. 3. Teenager mix Bahasa Indonesia and English in a single sentence 4. Leading to alternation adolescent behavior

Ladies and gentlemen Why does ICT become very important issue to discuss? Its because the advancement of ICT has influenced on the development of Indonesian culture now. Rapid flow of information and telecommunication actually causes a tendency that leads to the loss of local culture values. Development of 3T (Transportation, Telecommunications, and Technology) caused reducing desire to preserve the culture of their own country. With the rapid development of information and communication technology, any form of information and purposes can be spread out easily, so it can affect the perspective and life style. The rapid flow of information makes us difficult to filter it mentally and critically if we do not have enough knowledge to face it. IT development has changed the function its self, so that, we often unrealized that our local culture has been contaminated by foreign culture. It can be seen from the teenager conversation, they mix Bahasa Indonesia and English in a single sentence, and moreover teenagers today have created their own jargon. Excellences Audients Rapid advancement of ICT cant be avoided; it will develop in accordance with the times. Indeed, the development of ICT is needed, but if the Indonesian are not able to filter out the development of the ICT world, eventually Indonesia will become a nation which tends to be consumptive. The negative effects of ICT toward Indonesian society are moral degradation among community members particularly among teenagers and students that can lead to alternation adolescent behavior, for example in today's youth prefer to remain silent in front of the computer for games or prefer to have silent hours just for sharing on social media than to play traditional game. In social life, there is no doubt about the effect of ICT development. The familiar social media like FB and Twitter with all the conveniences have changed local culture suddenly, those make this world such a small village because do not need to meet a lot of people to make friends with many people, children or even some adults become indifferent to the environment (because they are busy with their device). Reading habit has also changed into reading online, where online or surfing the internet became a necessity at least a few hours a day.

The honorable judges As high as technological advances offered to us when we miss use, it will certainly make our life in the wrong way, these technologies will actually mislead our life and we will lose our local culture. Excellences Audients Now, I will show some tips how to use ICT wisely: 1. Use the technology to keep in touch with our friends and family. 2. Be careful with your new virtual friends. 3. Dont use it over time. Well, technology is a thing that we can control how to use it. We have known its positive and negative effect. So, we are the controller and decision maker. Lets use it wisely.
