JOVITA E.

SAGUIBO: In the Eyes of a Subordinate

by Marciano A. Paroy Jr. In a professional world populated by people with changing loyalties; in a working environment saturated with competitive spirit; in a circle that keeps expanding along with the times, it is easy to lose ones footing and be led astray from ones original goals unless you have been thrown into a company of competent workers who, aside from shooting institutional targets, still never forget to remain human, and serve as shining example and inspiration to others. Madam Jovie is one such person. For me, her name already contains the accurate adjectives that best describe her as a person and as a worker. I have always carved her name into two words: JOVIAL and VITAL: JOVIAL because she has this sunny disposition; a natural inclination to see the lighter side of things, and to laugh away the worries that beset us. JOVIAL because you can throw her into anyones company and before long, she will have made herself at home with any group, and any antagonistic spirit will easily be erased. Now, in her practice of her profession, she has established an employment history that is steeped in efficiency, never leaving any designation or office without setting standards that must be conformed to by successors. She is a tough act to follow. She is, in every inch, VITAL to the operations of her organization. In this case: the Kalinga-Apayao State College, whose four walls can attest to the layers and layers of competence that Madam Jovie has contributed, all in the name of service. And still she remains a living example of humility, never with a bloated ego. And theres no stopping there yet. As vital as she is, there never is a moment where she can be one example of an exhausted development planner and project implementer. As such, successful attainment of goals is high up in her work agenda, projecting in advance that she might fail and so she remains focused on her targets, troubleshooting any occurrence of lapses. In such cases, she is always heavily armed with remedies. Her series of Plan B, Plan C and before you know it, she hits bulls eye with Plan A, just the same.

The energy level remains high, and its really a miracle where she draws such vigor, such vitality, such joviality. Oh well, she gets mad too, but before another minute passes, that anger quickly vanishes. Love for life. Love for laughter. Love for work. Care for other people. Us, her subordinates. I can spend days interviewing all people who had the opportunity working with her, and I am sure they will only have glowing words for her. Maybe its in the genes. Maybe its something she has researched years before; something she will never share. Whatever, she is one beautiful person, inside out. And because of all the above-mentioned descriptions and more we remain steadfast in caring for her. And in loving her. Happy birthday Mam Jovie! Marciano A. Paroy Jr. March 14, 2014
