I love tea. Rich, fragrant tea which smells fantastic and tastes even better. I love flavours which make you stop, and say: This is so good, you have to try this I love all the little moments when tea makes things just right. Like when you cradle a warm mug between your hands on a cold morning, when youre having a really good catch up with an old friend, or when theres a slice of cake with your name on it. Knowing where the leaves in my cup come from, and how they got there, makes all the difference to me. All my herbs and tea leaves are grown organically and biodynamically in the beautiful wild mountains of Makaibari, to certified Fairtrade standards. So you can be sure each cup is delicious, totally natural, and environmentally friendly. Good for the earth, and good for you, too.

The Hampstead Difference

1. Artisan Tea Production
Hampstead black, green and white teas are produced in India using the orthodox method of production. This means that the leaves are picked by hand using only 2 leaves and a bud during 8 months of the year from March to November. The leaves are then fermented for black tea or steamed for green teas; rolled and finally dried.

2. Fairtrade
Fairtrading ensures that for every kilogram of tea purchased a proportion goes directly to the farming communities to fund vital social development programmes. These include village electrification, education initiatives and medical care facilities. At the Makabari tea estate for example, disbursement decisions are made by a joint body formed of mainly femaleworkers, empowered to represent their villages.

3. Its all About Taste

Created by Londons finest tea tasters, Hampsteads award winning range is perceptively different from the commercial teas because we only use exceptional teas and herbs. The natural flavour of the plants and herbs are drawn out in subtle combinations. Absolutely no use is made of any artificial sweeteners or flavourings. For example the oil of bergamot in our Earl Grey comes from bergamot fruit grown in Sicily. No surprise then that we have receieved taste awards by connoisseurs like HRH Prince Charles and Alice Waters of Chez Panisse, California. Hampstead Teas are known for their award winning taste profiles with a collection of Great Taste and Organic Food Awards. Our teas are certified Demeter, which is the highest standard for sustainable agriculture. Often called organic plus. Biodynamics includes proactive farming techniques such as integrating plant and animal lives with rigorous composting. Everything used on the farm must come from the farm itself, which promotes sustainablility, health and natural harmony. All Hampstead products carry the Demeter logo, guaranteeing that they are biodynamically grown.

4. Packaging
Our tea bags are unbleached, staple and glue free. The tag is stitched to the bag to avoid any contaminants. We use state-of-the-art tea bagging machine to achieve this rigorous standard. In keeping with our philosophy all of our packaging is fully biodegradable.

Lemon Green.
The tangy flavour of lemons is swirled with mellow green tea for a fresh, zesty drink.

Raspberry Darjeeling.
Rich and earthy Darjeeling meets sweet raspberry. Sophisticated and fruity.
Available in a 330ml elopak.

Elderflower Oolong.
Beautifully floral elderflower and fresh green tea. Distinctive yet delicate.
Available in a 330ml elopak.

Special Reserve
My special reserve loose leaf teas live up to their name. They are picked and prepared each year in small quantities, and are truly a little piece of luxury.

White Tea.
White tea is famed for its antioxidant and healing properties and is a tea lovers favourite. It is said to be full of chi - Chinese for energy.
Available in 25gms loose leaf tin and 40g pouches.

First Flush.
Visit a Darjeeling tea estate in March and enjoy the tamasha of the first flush season. Amongst great fanfare, the small green leaves are harvested and made into a tea full of zing and new vitality. Greener and more astringent than a black tea we love its intense aroma which fills the air.

Oolong.
Watch an Oolong leaf unfurl creating a clear golden green infusion. The delicate peachy taste makes my Oolong such a great mealtime partner. At Makaibari tea estate, the leaves are part fermented so that you can see the swirls of the green amongst the large twisted copper-black leaves.

Black Teas
These classic fermented teas all have our signature single estate Darjeeling as their base (except Assam).

Assam.
Using big glossy Assam leaves means my Assam is a deep, bold and malty tea.

Chai.
Any chaiwallah in India will offer a passerby a strong spicy cup of chai which at once warms and enriches your day. With its sweet creamy texture and rich spiciness, it is a real life force on a cool morning.

Darjeeling.
My Darjeeling is earthy, mellow and easy going. Before your first sip enjoy the musky aroma of muscatel, the natural fragrance of Makaibari.

Earl Grey.
Smooth and sophisticated. The lovely zing from the bergamot oil makes my Earl Grey the perfect accompaniment to a pastry or dessert.

English Breakfast.
Clean, uncluttered and robust. The bold Assam pushes you out of the house, whilst delicate Darjeeling gently reveals the day ahead.
