Interstage Booster Pump

The Carver RS9-BCP 3 stage pump supplies booster pressure for the second stage of the unit. The reject from the rst stage is higher concentrate than normal seawater because of the fresh water pulled out. The high concentration of brine requires a higher pressure to break the bond between salt and water. The booster supplies this pressure. The nominal pressure drop across the membrane train and required pressure to operate the PX is supplied by the 175 psig pressure of the booster pump.

High Pressure Charge Pump

The Carver RS series multi-stage pumps have proven to be top of the line in longevity and maintenance costs. The fteen stage pump is equipped with a 200 hp Baldor motor with tropicalized windings. Our pump ring sections have been poured using CD-4 inconel steel. This exotic metal has been used extensively in petroleum and seawater services where high performance and safety are of the utmost concern. Inconel is a very stable metal with an almost nonexistent corrosion problem. The Carver RS 9-BCP 15 stage pump will develop 2,090 feet of head with a 25 psig suction pressure.

Welcome to the World of Seawater Desalination

WATEC is proud to introduce our newest line of water treatment equipment the CI-250K-2 seawater desalination unit. The unit will produce 250,000 gallons of fresh water per day. We use thin-lm semi-permeable membrane to separate fresh water from the salt in seawater. Efcient centrifugal multi-stage pumps achieve 1100 psi water pressure to drive the reverse osmosis process. The system is a 2 stage unit designed for 60% recovery of the inlet ow. The fresh water is routed to storage by a pump and the high pressure brine is routed through an energy recovery device to make the CI-250K-2 one of the most energy efcient desalination units on the market today. The seawater is introduced into the unit through a 15-micron absolute bag lter. The nishing lter is a 2-micron cartridge lter. Inlet ow is controlled with a ow transmitter and valve. The lter housings are manufactured by Cuno Corp. one of the largest lter manufacturers in the world. The housings are constructed from SAF2205 duplex stainless steel. Pressure Relief Valves Bent pin technology is used to protect the system in case of overpressurization. The pin holds down the pressure disk until the pressure overcomes the pin. The pin bends and pressure is released. Pin replacement time is 3 minutes.

Macro and Micro Filters

Energy Recovery Inc.s pressure recovery system operates by directly having the high pressure brine come in contact with the incoming seawater stream. The PX-140S has only one moving part, a rotor inside the casing that spins at 36,000 rpm. Fresh LP seawater is supplied to the rotor as it spins by the supply openings. The rotor carries the water to the HP brine side where the two streams come in contact and the pressure is instantaneously transferred. High pressure brine drives the rotor so no motor or external driver is necessary. The high pressure fresh seawater is then injected into the RO inlet downstream of the high pressure charge pump.

We use Protec Pro8-1200MSP-6 membrane vessels. The vessels are spun reinforced berglass with burst pressure of greater than 5,000 psi. Protec high pressure connections are fabricated from 2705 super duplex stainless steel. The vessels end can be easily removed for membrane maintenance by simply pulling the end cap retainer ring. In a few short seconds, the internal parts of the vessels are accessible for ease of maintenance.
