Transfer data from the AS/400 to an Excel spreadsheet

Client Access provides a Microsoft Excel add-in for data transfer which allows you to run download transfer requests from the 32-bit versions of Microsoft Excel (Excel 95 and Excel 97). In order to run a transfer request from Microsoft Excel, you must first install the Microsoft Excel add-in for data transfer (see instructions at the end of this doc). Once you have installed the add-in: 1. In Excel, click on the data transfer toolbar icon or choose the Transfer Data From AS/400... menu item from the Data menu. The Transfer Request dialog box opens.

2.

Select if you would like to create a new transfer request or if you would like to use the name of an existing transfer request. If you select the name of an existing transfer request, you can either enter the name of the transfer request file in the space provided or you can select the Browse button to search your PC for the file. For this example, we typed the name of an existing data transfer request in the Create from file entry field. You can also specify the starting cell position and whether or not to include column headings from the host data if you want.
