hen I was young, my grandparents gave me some war-time furniture that I used while I was growing up. I was always intrigued by the craftsmanship I saw in those pieces. Traditional joinery and minimal fasteners were something that I saw as true quality. Those dovetailed joints, wooden guides and quality woods formed the vision of what we build today. In 1985, my family and I moved to Texas. I transferred with Sears and Roebuck and took a position in package pick-up assisting customers with oversized purchases and returns. One day a gentleman came to our dock with an air compressor maintenance issue. I unloaded his van. During our conversation, he asked me if I knew someone interested in carpentry. I told him that I was new to the area, but I was interested. He gave me an address and the next morning I showed up and started a new career. During the next 7 years, while attending local colleges to obtain a degree in Advertising Design, I worked for Buckner Construction as a custom trim carpenter. Since that time, I have built furniture using the traditional techniques I found in my childhood furnishings. In 2009, I integrated CliffStone into my creations. For the first time. The response to these pieces has been overwhelming. I decided to pursue this venture and Recherch Furnishings, Inc. was born.
eauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. Michelangelo would see the form of his sculptures in the marble before the first chisel kissed the surface. Having a good relationship with our mills plays a critical role in designing unique pieces worthy of bearing the Recherch Furnishings brand. Walking the yard looking for that perfect piece that will bring your design to life is what drives our creative spirit. We offer a wide variety of hard and soft woods. Each piece has a unique purpose and personality. Textures, markings, grains and colors all play an integral part in creating your perfect piece. Ash, maple, oak, pine, hickory, alder, cherry, walnut and cedar make up some of the quality timbers you can choose from to design your custom piece. All of our materials are hand-picked from timbers grown in U. S. timberlands.

Imagine a surface stronger than standard concrete. What if it were flexible, colorfast, durable and crack resistant? Imagine that it is resilient to staining from red wine, gasoline and even hydrochloric acid. What if it were available in infinite colors and designs? Sounds impressive? It is and it is CliffStone. Cliffstone is a unique blend of bonded aggregates, fibers and polymers that provide the medium for our creative home furnishings. Our proprietary formula produces a surface that is stronger and more flexible than marble, granite or Corian, resulting in a beautiful low maintenance finish that is colorfast and will last for generations to come.

CliffStone offers many advantages over other surfaces allowing each piece to be a one of a kind creation. CliffStone can be molded into complex shapes that cannot be easily manufactured using other materials. Color options are endless and pieces do not need to be laminated together to make thicker edges. This allows the designer a larger degree of options to create inspiring designs.
In some cases CliffStone will cost more than granite due to design and color choices. Unfortunately there is more production process to manufacture CliffStone pieces than there is to manufacture granite. Our CliffStone products are made from raw materials. We hand make all the needed molds, batch the materials, hand cast, cure and then process each piece by hand. That is why there will never be two pieces that are identical.
How does CliffStone compare to other stones, like granite? Do you warranty against cracking?
Our CliffStone offers more color consistency than granite making it easier to pick colors from samples without having to visit a stone yard and spend hours searching. Our surfaces are virtually maintenance free and can be cleaned with warm soap and water.
Yes. Our furniture is warranted against structural cracking due to manufacture defects.
Our manufacturing process for CliffStone creates less material waste than quarrying and fabrication of granite.
