ESSENE NETWORK INTERNATIONAL AIMS AND OBJECTIVES.

Founded in 1987, the non profit-making Network was conceived in order to spread a greater appreciation of the underlying Message at the heart of most Spiritual Teachings. It is neither Sectarian nor Racial but simply seeks to embrace all Teachings of a truly Spiritual nature. Much of the inspiration behind the Network comes from the books of Dr. Edmond Bordeaux Szekely and especially his interpretation of The Essene Philosophy underlying much of this are the teachings of the Persian Sage Zarathustra. The main emphasis is upon self-realisation and working with the Divine Spark present in each of us, and seeking to manifest through us. It is an essentially practical yet beautiful concept directed towards nurturing a sense of wholeness among all people through the integration and balancing of Mind, Body and Spirit. To help achieve these aims we employ and teach many methods including: Meditation and Communion with the Angelic Forces, Peace Contemplations, Harmony with the Animal, Plant and Mineral Kingdoms and with all Creation, Diet and Positive and Creative Thinking. Our Gatherings and Retreats are light and joyful as you would expect from the coming together and sharing of like minded people.

Editorial Comment
Well Summer ( what Summer!! ) is drawing to a close and the nights are drawing in - 'Crete' was an experience with its first August rain in over sixty years, though it did not dampen our spirits. - When you receive this issue the Summer Gathering will also have been an experience??!! Remember it is your Newsletter and contributions are always required, but remember to state if you are an Essene member or would rather remain humble to your work but without contributions there is no newsletter. Below is the request of my friend who's wishes I obeyed. Graham I have to admit that when I was writing "The Essene Gospel of the Holy Order", it came to me originally in little fragments, like bits of inspiration. I also felt a very powerful presence when I wrote, kind of like Jesus himself was sitting next to me. I'm really not into that sort of stuff and I'm a skeptic most of the time, but this was really weird. I don't want my name on it. I don't want the author to be confused with the content of the work. If anyone has anything nice to say about it or really, really has to get in touch with me, you're welcome to give them my email address or share with me anything you want. Chairmans Comments. At the time of writing we are less than two weeks from our 2002 summer gathering. The programme looks very good and I know that the week will be full of light and uplifting energies for everyone present. My thoughts, however, are straying to those of you who are unable to join us for one reason of another. This year, then, we are going to make a special effort to re-produce as much of the input from the summer gathering as we can ... so watch out for it in the next couple of newsletters. To start the ball rolling my own Tuesday morning input is re-produced below. I hope it acts as a spur for everyone who was with me at Kirkby Fleetham, to continue with the visualisation and as a catalyst to get others started. THE WORD In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Gospel according to St. John. Chapter 1, Verse 1. If we look at the same event as written in Genesis Chapter 1, Verses 1 - 3. We read: In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light, and there was light. In both quotes we see the power of the word, in St.John we find God is the Word, and the power is the power of creation. In every spiritual and religious teaching around the world there are power words and always these power words are the names of God or the Creator for example: /....

It is believed that the Brow Chakra of the Planet is Iceland. In Edinburgh lies a direct link to that Chakric field. Taliesin taught in two schools one in Wales, centred at Cader Idris and in Anglesey, and the other in Edinburgh, at what became known as Arthurs Seat, above the area of the Holy Rood. The radiations from both areas have interesting parallels. Within a radius of Cader Idris is Caernarfon site of the coronation of the Princes of Wales. Within the radiation of Edinburgh is Scone, site of the coronation of all Scottish Kings. Again the connection of brow is obvious. Within the concept of Druidic lineage, the birth of The Merlin is interesting. It is understood in some circles that the first Merlin arrived on the shores of Pritanni (later Britain) bringing from Atlantis the Wisdoms from the Inner Temple. The place where his boat landed became known as Caer Merthyn. There, he set up a school to impart the Wisdoms to his successors. The Female Order was on the opposite bank of the Channel now called Bristol, in an area which at that time was know as Ynnis Witrin, Isle of Glass. Because it was surrounded by water, the High Priestess was called the Lady of the Lake. The particular Merlin at the time of the Arthurian Mysteries was Emrys, whose birth is also surrounded in myth. It is said that he was born of a female Initiate who had attained to the degree of Immaculata and was herself the Lady of the Lake at that point. The father was said to be no earthly being and thus is the legend again closely aligned with the story of the birth of Jeshua. I personally believe that one must understand the significance of Glastonbury in relation to the whole network of Temple bodies in the landscape of Britain. Too much emphasis is, in my own opinion, placed on Glastonbury alone, when in fact the whole of Britain as ALBION is, and always has been of extreme significance. The dual polarities of human and the earth-plane interact upon and between each other. Certain types of deep inner experience occur when the human psyche enters into specific topographical areas. The landscape energy, combined with the knowledge and wisdom of the Ancients who created specific Forcefields within that landscape energy, has a dynamic effect which registers on the human psyche and the interplay intensifies the forcefield.. This is always heightened even more at a major NODE point (a point where several lines of force cross each other) When any building is erected on such a convergence, it makes a very distinct and accurate statement about that area. Glastonbury lies on a major power line which has been called the Great St. Michael Line, that runs up through Cornwall, on to Bury St. Edmunds to mention only that portion of the Line which runs through Britain. It was strongly connected with the Druidic Orders, with whom it was held most sacred. To those same Druids, Cader Idris was known as the High Seat of Wisdom and Snowdon the Sacred Mount. Anglesey and Holy Head in particular were key points, which in turn align with further key points on Mull in Scotland, and Callanish in the Hebrides. Edinburgh considered to radiate the energy of the Brow Chakra - lies on a major line which arises at the number one node point of the Planet the Gizeh Plateau in Egypt. But it is at Glastonbury where lies the significance of the Chalice the Throat, and the Feminine aspect of the Wisdoms. Thus, within the Body of Albion, lies a deep truth... the attainment of the Rose-Cross. That attainment which comes when the mind thinks as a heart, with Love and Compassion and the heart becomes the seat of Mind-thought. The Throat or CHALICE is the area of bridging that lies between. Sylvia Moss

ATUM, RA, KRISHNA, BUDDHA, RAMA, AHURA MAZDA, SIVA, ALLAH, GOD, JEHOVAH, YESHUA, BRAHMA, YAHWEH, WAKANTANKA, AUMAKUA. These major power words all seem to have one thing in common, and that is the AHH sound, all that is save for one.... our name for the Creator GOD. However if this word is intoned, as in a chant, you will find that the AHH sound is hidden deep within it. This brings us a step closer to an understanding of the source of the power that words hold. We see now that it is not the word itself but the sound which holds the power, hence the energy behind the OM. To say the word OM or AUM will result in little energy generation but to intone or chant it with focused mind can produce considerable energy movement in the chakras of the body. But is it just the intoning or chanting of a word which releases its power.... I think not. We need to look further back beyond the word itself and beyond the chanting, to the source of what we are doing, to that point at which pure energy starts its Journey into matter .. the POINT OF CREATION. We have a clue in both Genesis and John where we see that the creation of the world itself was down to the word, and the sound that that word made. In their turn, however, both the word and the sound are down to the thought which preceded them the thought which created that sound and that word. Rather than talking about power words we should be talking about POWER THOUGHTS, for the source of all words and all sounds is thought, and as the old saying goes energy follows thought. This morning we are going to undertake a journey, through a visualisation, which will bring us a little closer to understanding the full implications behind the power of thought. Most of us already know at an intellectual level that thought power is behind everything, but this is not enough. We need also to know this in our hearts and with the highest part of our being so that we can experience it, live it and then our world will truly change. Get yourself comfortable and be sure there are no interruptions. When you feel ready allow your eyes to close and spend a few moments letting your conscious, outer mind settle. If you have difficulties focus, in your minds eye, on your favourite flower or a candle flame. If any unwanted thoughts enter your mind dont fight them, just acknowledge them and let them pass, as a cloud passes over the face of the sun. When you feel ready choose a part of your body to focus upon. It can be anywhere, your little finger, top of your head, a foot etc. Bring as much of your attention as you can to bear on that spot, be aware of the skin or bone or hair.... let your awareness increase by being more aware of the cells which form this area. Whatever colours or shapes come into your mind, just accept them, there are no wrongs or rights here. Now take your awareness deeper, beyond even the cells, what is it like inside a cell, once again go with whatever comes into your mind and keep pushing your awareness deeper and deeper. After a few minutes you will come to a place where there seems to be nothing, or a least nothing material, you may have shimmering lights and colours or just a feeling of warmth but as you rest within this place you will /...

The Path of Mary, the Mother of Christ

(from The Essene Gospel of The Holy Order) (Author: see Editorial ) Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home. John 19:27

The amount of grains necessary to provide meat for one person

can provide enough bread for seven people

and enough sprouts and baby greens for more than twenty people
. . . but he who kills a beast without a cause, though the beast attack him not, through lust for slaughter, or for its flesh, or for its hide, or yet for its tusks, evil is the deed which he does, for he is turned into a wild beast himself. Wherefore is his end and also as the end of the wild beasts. Kill neither man, nor beasts, nor yet the food which goes into your mouth. For if you eat living food, the same will quicken you, but if you kill your food, the dead food will kill you also. For life comes only from life, and from death comes always death. . . Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. But flesh, and the blood which quickens it, shall ye not eat. For I tell you truly, he who kills, kills himself, and whoso eats the flesh of slain beasts, eats of the body of death.
-The Essene Gospel of Peace, Book One translated by Edmond Bordeaux Szekely Copyright 1981, by the International Biogenic Society (Submitted by Norma Szekely)

Marys path is the path of love, personified beautifully as a faithful mother. The reference here is to the Earthly Mothers unconditional love for Her children, each of which is a potential Christ child. The Essene Initiate must undertake a vow of absolute purity in food and drink. This purity leads naturally and eventually to emotional harmony. In the gospel story Mary is concerned that the host at a wedding banquet has no wine to give his guests to which Jesus replies, Woman, what is that to thee and me? (Jn 2:4). On the surface this sounds somewhat selfish and uncharacteristic of Jesus, but an allegorical interpretation shows the struggle of the Essene Initiate in overcoming the very human tendency to be apathetic toward the needs of others and the eventual triumph of turning water into wine by creating the best wine in the house and making the host very happy, indeed (Jn 2:10). The best wine is not a literal fermented beverage here, but the spiritual high one experiences from ingesting only things that are natural and pure. Since much of the gospel tale seems to have been written for the benefit of a pro- Roman audience, the name Mary (Johns gospel never mentions Jesus mother by name) then becomes easily associated with the Latin word mare or maris referring to the sea (Latin Maria; Greek Marias). The element of water here is then a reference to purity, cleanliness and the moon, which pulls the tides. Mary is often depicted draped in the color blue (water) and the moon is symbolic of the virgin (new moon) and mother (full moon) motif and is a direct reference to the Earthly Mother, the True Mother of the Christ. The moon is also the celestial body closest to the Earth, completing its revolution through the ecliptic every 29.5 days representing the first rung on the ladder up to heaven. In John 2:6 there are six waterpots of stone (Virgo is the sixth sign of the Zodiac and the hour of water is the sixth hour after noon). The waterpots mentioned here were used as a manner of purifying and the measurement firkin or 8 7/8 gallons corresponds to the amount of water used in a Hebrew bath (cleanliness). In John 4:6 Jesus sits on the well at the sixth hour (the hour of water) and requests something to drink. The name Mary is also very similar to the word myrrh, from the Syrian female name Myrrha. This association to one of the three gifts of the wise men at Jesus birth (Mt 2:11) is a hidden reference to the three heavenly gifts bestowed upon the Essene Initiate of power/sun (gold), love/ water (myrrh) & wisdom/air (frankincense) which are the real treasures.

PDF created with FinePrint pdfFactory trial version http://www.fineprint.com

These three items represent the first three days of creation and the first six days in the Festival of Light with the gift giving epiphany the following midnight. They also correspond to the three harvest festivals of sun, water and air when the sun (son) of God is sacrificed annually and are reinforced in 2 Timothy, v. 7 with regards to God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind(wisdom). When Jesus is notified that his family (specifically his mother being mentioned) is trying to reach him, he responds by saying that his family is really those that do Gods will (Mt 12:48; Mk 3:34). This sounds like he is ignoring his kin, but taken allegorically, its an affirmation of the universal love humankind will share when we are all cleansed from any and all toxicity, ingesting things that only the Divine Mother of Life has provided and thus becoming true brothers and sisters, hence doing Gods (the Creators) will. Marys path is therefore, Peace with Family and Friends, guided by the Angel of Love. Marys Festival is naturally the Festival of Water (The New Wine Harvest) and a time when the Earthly Mothers Angel of Food is in abundance (a wedding feast) or Thanksgiving, a great time to spend with family and friends and give thanks to God for their precious company. The hidden connection between Mary (The Earthly Mother), the wine harvest and myrrh is reinforced in Marks gospel where Jesus is offered both wine mixed with myrrh (Mk 15:23) at his crucifixion (sun at autumnal equinox or Season of Water).

.../ become aware of what we will call small packages of energy, they are atoms. Hold onto this image of your packages of energy and slowly become aware that they are everywhere.... let your attention pull out from that limited area of your own body and like the ripples from a stone thrown into the centre of a still pool allow your attention to broaden out to encompass larger and larger areas of your body. Take your time and just let it happen until you are aware of your whole body and of the countless billions of these "packages of energy that make you who you are. This is your kingdom and you are the master or mistress of this domain, you rule through your thought energy and your billions of subjects (packages of energy) will obey. Dwell here for a few moments and be very aware of the power you wield through your thoughts. After a few minutes re-focus your attention to the outside world and you will see that all around you are many more of these packages of energy, they make up the aura which surrounds your material form. So now you can move your awareness out into this aura, and still you can influence your subjects. Dwell here until you feel comfortable and at ease, then re-focus your attention again, this time onto the space between you and me. What do you find in this space? Light, dust, oxygen, carbon dioxide and other gasses ... but what makes them? Many more billions of those little packages of energy. And if you expand out towards me what you find is more and more packages of energy and when you get to my aura....yet more....and to my material body ... more still. So the very packages of energy which make you also make me... we are the same. And still you can influence them, so you can affect me and I you. We are one now with all things what-so-ever they may be, for all creation is composed of these packages of energy and it is the Thought Behind the Word which directs them to form matter. Unlike the animals, trees or rocks YOU HAVE THAT POWER OF THOUGHT BE CAREFUL HOW YOU USE IT. Dwell in this place of awareness for a short while and then when you feel ready allow yourself to draw back to the room where you began this experience. Become more aware of the chair under you and the floor beneath your feet, of the sounds around you and when you are ready let you eyes open slowly. Give yourself plenty of time to settle back into your reality and be gentle with yourself If we but knew it we are already creators but much of what we create is not good. This visualisation, if practiced, will help to increase our awareness of the thought power we all possess and of the oneness of all creation. It will help us to see and to understand how we are all connected, not just we humans but all the earthly kingdoms, and how our thoughts, as well as our actions, impact on ALL of creation, even if we do not see or feel the effect. To finish I will read the words of Chief Seattle, whose people have long known and accepted the oneness of all creation. The Earth does not belong to man: man belongs to the Earth. All things are connected like the blood which unites one family. All things are connected. Whatever befalls the Earth befalls the sons of the Earth. Man did not weave the web of life: he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself - Peace be with you. Brian

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE CHALICE - Sylvia Moss

Jeshua, as embodiment of the Living Christ, shared with His Disciples the Mysteries of the Eucharist at what has become known as the Last Supper. After breaking the bread, He then shared the wine and the water. The bread element EARTH Jeshua described as My body broken for you. The wine FIRE element represented the transformed (desire) body in one who has transmuted that desire from the physical to the spiritual, and which He called My blood, shed for you. The water element and its purifying ability, was representative of the emotional body of Man... thus Jeshua entreated the Disciples to live a pure and harmless life. The Chalice, in which was passed around first the wine and then the water, has received a great deal of speculation in the centuries since that time both as to its meaning and its whereabouts. A clue to all of this lies in the human body itself. As the Temple wherein Spirit dwells, each step in expanding consciousness creates specific change in the body physical, and in the surrounding finer bodies. The Chalice represents, specifically, a new etheric organ which is beginning to develop within the conscious members of the Body of World Servers in the Aquarian Age. Its centre is the larynx, which tells us that this is the centre for the emission of great Power; a power that can only be grasped and utilised when the co-creative process is sublimated to the Spiritual Counterpart.. This new organ creates a link between head and heart. The head begins to function as has done the heart with love. Humanity will begin to think with the heart, and love with the mind. We must cease to put new wine into old bottles . The Christ said I will drink not again of the fruit of the vine until I drink in the New Kingdom Of God. The Old Kingdom has been traditionally regarded as the Middle East, especially focusing in the Holy Land. After the events of the Crucifixion, Joseph of Arimathea and the three Marys, Peter, Phillip and James (the Just) travelled into Celtic lands, first landing in France and traversing that country. Joseph and the Marys then continued on to Britain, returning to the great Temple Body which Jeshua had visited as a young man, prior to beginning His mission. I believe the reason they took with them the Chalice and the Holy Thorn was, symbolically, the bringing of objects representing certain ENERGIES to those areas that are again symbolically the receptors on planetary scale, of those same energies. It is believed that the Chalice reposes somewhere in the area of Glastonbury. The staff carved from the Holy Thorn, was thrust into the earth on Wearyall Hill, and sprang to life there. Thus it was carried back to the home of Taliesin, the Greatest living Bard. Taliesin means Shining Brow of the Enlightened One and thus connects with the Crown of Thorns which pierced the Shining Brow of the World. It would have been extremely significant to be brought to the head of the very Order that had taught Jeshua the Druidic branch of the Universal Ageless Wisdoms.

Story of Abraham
Abrahams father, Terah, was a High Priest and Architect in the City of Ur of the Chaldees, a man of great influence. His son, Ab, was carefully trained by his father to follow in his footsteps and Ab in due time became a Priest also. The Ziggorats round which they worshipped began at the lowest level of development and gradually climbed up to the highest, which was worship of the Moon. The Moon Goddess reigned supreme, honoured and loved, and she wove the fates of mankind, rewarding suppliants and punishing illdoers. Then a moment came when Terah felt the education of his son was incomplete and he sent him forth to learn more. Ab (Abraham) travelled from the eastern point of the fertile crescent to the western point, Egypt, not as a common bedouin or merchant adventurer, but as a very respected man with a wealthy entourage. At that time the fertile crescent really was fertile. He was received in Egypt by the High Priest of On with due honours, an expected guest, to continue his education as a young Priest. In Egypt the highest level of worship was the Sun and this caused deep questioning in the heart of Ab. But he continued his training and achieved the status of Priest in the Egyptian rites. At his Ceremony admitting him to the Priesthood he was given the added name of Ra, making him now Abra. One day he went out into the desert alone to think out this anomaly of worshipping the Sun in Egypt and the Moon in Mesopotamia. In the desert he got his answer. A figure of light advanced towards him out of the desert. No single ordinary person can come out of the desert sands, so Abra waited expectantly And the figure turned out to be Melchizedek, a Priest of the Most High God, who brought out bread and wine there mysteriously in the desert. When they had eaten, Melchizedek blessed Abra and named him I am after He who had sent him. So Abra became Abraham. - and Abraham understood. God was beyond Sun and beyond Moon and yet remained the I in the being of all that is alive. Monotheism was born.

The Path of Jesus, the Christ

(from The Essene Gospel of The Holy Order) (Author: See Editorial ) Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. Matthew 13:43 The path of Jesus corresponds allegorically to the path of the sun, which works tirelessly giving life and healing to our planet. John the Baptist says Jesus baptizes with fire (Mt 3:11), a clear reference to the sun or the the fire of life. Jesus (the sun) is naturally in his fathers house during the twelfth hour (high noon) or age twelve (Luke 2:42-49) revealing for us that Roman timekeeping (hours of the day) is being cross-referenced with Jewish tradition. The other references connecting Jesus to the sun (see Mt 17:2) are too numerous to mention here and have caused several scholars to conclude falsely that the Essenes worshiped the sun, instead of the divine ineffable light it represented to them (Jn 1:7-9). The main connection regarding the sun being considered here is to the self; not the ego-based self, but the True Self, the Self that both the Cosmos and Nature intended each of us to be. The Essene Initiate would be transformed from a regular human being into a Christ, by revealing the Light of God inherent within him or her. Jesus instructs his disciples to let their light shine before men so that their Father in heaven may be praised (Mt 5:16). This is a direct reference to revealing the Christ within each one of us who appears dormant, yet is really the True Master of us all and a reflection of the light of the Heavenly Father. Jesus in the gospel stories often tells people to keep what he is doing a secret for his time had not yet come (Mt 9:30, 16:20, 17:9). This is symbolic of the Essene Initiates struggle to overcome wanting to rid themselves of their cosmic duty and the responsibility that goes with it; that the presence of The Christ within is really a carefully guarded secret. Finally, Jesus submits to the Fathers will and is crucified. The false self dies and the True Christ Self is gloriously resurrected. The passion is a symbolic reference to the awakening of the inner consciousness of man to the greater consciousness of the Cosmos thus revealing the Original True Self within us all. Jesus life in the gospels represents the struggle faced by the Son of Man as he is transformed by his full awakening into the Son of God, revealing to everyone that in truth, he was really Gods Son all along (Mk 15:39). His ultimate goal is to establish the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth, so that everyone may share in his divine inheritance. Matthew 16:27 has Jesus saying that the Son of man shall come in the glory of the Father with all his angels and shall reward according to works thus contradicting several New Testament verses (Rom 3:28, Eph 2:8-9, Gal 2:16) which state

PDF created with FinePrint pdfFactory trial version http://www.fineprint.com

.../ that by faith alone one is saved. The Son of man here represents the Sun coming each year in the glory of the Father (Cosmos) with all his angels (forces of Nature) to reward each according to their works (as you sow, so shall you reap). This reference to the Wheel of the Year and the planting and harvest seasons would explain the following verse (Mt. 16:28) where Jesus tells the disciples that they will not taste death until they see the Son returning in his kingdom. Taken literally, it is a failed prophecy since that generation passed away 2000 years ago. Taken metaphorically, it is true, since the Son (sun) returns each year at the first of spring in his kingdom to the glory of the Father. The hidden allegory also corresponds to the raised life condition of the disciples who see the Son of man within themselves as they become fully awakened spiritually. The gospel story of the savior of the world has endured until today, even in the hearts of millions who reject the literalness of the texts. Perhaps each one of us sees a greater Self within the image of the Christ, whose mission is to make the world a better place through his own self-sacrifice. Therefore, Jesus path is Peace with Humanity, guided by the Angel of Work. His Festival is the Festival of the Sun, which is the grain harvest, the time of year when the god of light is sacrificed and turned into the Lord of the Harvest (Mt 9:38). It also a time associated with working together in the fields and when the multitudes can now be fed. Since Jesus is associated with the grain harvest here, he would naturally be born in Bethlehem meaning house of food or house of bread.

Essene Way of Life... Preparing the Way... It is a marvellous life experience to enjoy the gifts of natural talents. Most people with artistic and performance talents observed from a very early age that they possessed certain natural abilities. The recognition and appreciation of these inborn aptitudes generates a compelling force within each of us to become increasingly proficient. This is also true for other talents such as parenting, engineering, gardening, sports, computing, or an infinite variety of actions or occupations. Many people are driven to perfect their talents and view the process as one of achievement. Usually, the keys include knowledge, practice, and truly loving the work at hand. Even when the hosts of the talent love their work, they recognize the value of learning as much as possible about their artform and then practice, practice, and practice. The devotional, educational and experiential process, over the course of time, results in the development of a uniquely personalized thought-form or style. The Essenes integrate this natural law into their spiritual practice. Instead of viewing the process as one of achieving, they perceive that individual growth involves preparation. The energies of body, mind, and spirit must be prepared to allow Divine Consciousness to unfold. Preparing the preconditions for spiritual growth is as important to the aspirant as the purposeful preparation of gardening conditions is to an optimum harvest. The Essene way of life includes systematic methods for refining our radiating and vibrational energies to optimise every aspect of our existence. This requires practice in the areas of trust, patience, observation, alignment, and attuning to natural and divine forces. The act of contemplation, prayer, meditation, or communion becomes a useless exercise unless these activities saturate our real life situations, bringing benefits to ourselves and to those around us. The same is true for the physical development of the body and the intellectual pursuits of the mind. Essenes know that all these activities are important, but maintaining a balance between diet, exercise, study, self-examination, and spiritual practice is essential to realizing all of our hearts desires. They show, by example, that by seeking first the kingdom of God everything that we desire is provided, effortlessly. The ultimate goal of the Essene practitioner is nothing short of entering the realm of paradise, while living! Remember... It is important to live your life with the knowledge that you are absolutely and eternally safe and secure. You do not need to beg, plead, or negotiate for your salvation. Trust the Angel of Wisdom to guide your journey and, while continuing to honour the ancient teachings, blaze new trails. Consider the teaching of Swami Beyondananda: While an unexamined life is not worth living, an unlived life is not worth examining. Live a full life and be joyful. The Essene Book of Days by Danaan Parry

I read a brief explanation last night of the Essenes relationship to Jesus. I really stumbled on it in the midst of reading a journal of daily meditations - The Essene Book of Days by Danaan Parry. I was very confused because I am an avid reader and this is the first reference I have come across to this group of people or a possible link to Jesus. The book claims that a small group of Jews, followers of Melkesedek, retreated into the desert around 250 B.C. to avoid the corrupt cities and priests. They wanted to reconnect to God in a spiritual sense with no outside influence. They called themselves Essaie and were preparing for the return of Missiayah - which means saviour today. After some time had passed the Essenes realized that the Missiayah may not come in their lifetime and so began to prepare their descendants for the task of preparing the way for the change that was to come. Here, Danaan Parry claims that The Dead Sea Scrolls tell us that each succeeding generation became more attuned and that finally babies were being born who already were conscious of their role in the bringing of this energy of the Missiayah. Two of these women in the Qumran community near Mount Carmel were Mary and her cousin, Elizabeth. The scrolls indicate that Elizabeth gave birth to a conscious being who became known as the Daystar and who went to the wilderness to prepare for the imminent arrival of the Teacher of Righteousness. Parrys contention is that the Daystar was John the Baptist and Jesus was the Teacher of Righteousness. He also claims that though the word Jesus is not used in the Scrolls, the name Nazarine is. At the time however, he says, Nazarine referred to a spiritual belief and way of life, and that Nazarine and Essene mean the same thing. He also claims that the Scrolls say that 6 of the apostles (Peter, Andrew, Phillip, Bartholomew, James, his brother John, and Nazarini) were all raised in the Essene community. Parry claims that it is not a coincidence that the Bible says Jesus was in the Desert for 20 years but says no more and that the Scrolls state that the Teacher of Righteousness was involved in a comprehensive educational process at the same time. Parry even goes on to state exactly where the Scrolls say this Teacher went - including all Essene communities, India to learn ancient Vedic tradition, Persia, Egypt, and some other places. How credible is this? Has anyone else run across this theory before? How likely is this theory in your opinion? Is there any evidence to contradict it? Youll notice below I included Parrys sources - what does Edgar Cayce have to do with this theory? (Besides the fact he frequently mentioned the Essenes in his past life readings) Here are Parrys sources: Gaster, Theodore. The Dead Sea Scriptures. Jackson, F.J. Josephus and the Jews. Kitter, Glenn. Edgar Cayce on the Dead Sea Scrolls. Lawrence, R. The Book of Enoch. Levi. The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ. Spears, Ralph. Jesus, the Essenes, and the Dead Sea Scrolls. SOUND HEALING BY MURIEL SMITH (submitted by Anne MacEwen)

Before she was married my mother belonged to a choir and was the soloist at concert times. When I was young we lived within the shadow of a church. When the bells rang out she would sing, Why dont you people come to church? For the two intervals - do so me do and la fa ray te, I was persuaded to sing my name. In recent times sound healing has come to the fore. Do you know that you have a keynote and that each note of the seven step tonic solfa scale with top do for the whole body, has its part to play, affecting different areas of your being as well as your emotions? Try singing your name to the scale at different speeds and volume. Then listen to it inwardly. Doctors speak of our bodies as orchestras; we are walking symphonies. The various waves that comprise our bodies are in resonance with the earth and are affected by the shifts that the earth is going through. It is said that when Mother Earth ascends into the next dimension, it will be by one chord! A lot of children born since 1993 are already programmed, so it can happen in the foreseeable future, but no one knows the time. Healing can take place with an instrument or voices, perhaps yours only, to harmonise and find the balance between our physical and spiritual lives. If you pull out the damper in a piano and strike a note, say middle C, the chords above and below will resonate. Olivea Dewhurst-Maddock says that recent research by sound therapists and biologists has demonstrated the effects of vibrations on living cells. Using tuning forks as the sound source, the different frequencies of the musical scale caused blood cells to change colour and shape. For example, the note C made them longer, E made them spherical and W changed their colour from red to pink. The frequencies of the notes may be sufficiently close to cells own natural frequencies to set up sympathetic vibrations reinforcing resonances and breaking up disruptive interference patterns. Compared to healthy cells, cancerous cells can be thought of as weak, floppy and overweight. Subjected to the same sequence of rising frequencies, they gradually become disrupted and disintegrated at 400 480 HZ (A - B above middle C). It is possible that resonances strengthen healthy cells. This research may represent the beginnings of the therapeutic use of sounds for cancer treatment. I experienced sound healing with voices a few months ago and the next day I had more energy which has not regressed. Fourteen of us took part. The patient was seated in the centre Of the circle, with thirteen people standing around singing the eight notes of the chord at the same time. I expected discord but it was beautiful. We took turns as the patient and without exception we all felt something; tingling, heat, coldness, release or lightness, one a vision. /...

.../ Emotions have a sound or vibratory signature and can be viewed as musical chords, some soothing and some cacophonous. An emotion such as anger some people feel in their upper chest or arms. Sadness can be experienced in the heart region or around the eyes. The suppression of emotion is not healthy, it causes a backlash, the sound moves deeper into the cellular structure of the body. When emotion is suppressed over and over again so that its held deep within the cells, a negative physical effect is created, e.g. rage turns into high blood pressure. Stress begins when the cellular fields hold the suppressed emotion. To release, realise where the emotion is being held in the body. As an exercise, remember an emotion you experience regularly. Totally relax. Now, focus and sense where in your body the emotion is felt. Take a deep breath and make the sound of the emotion as you exhale - a sigh, - a yell, - a cry, - a laugh or just noise. Keep making the sound until you feel relieved to clear negativity, so keeping your energy body healthy. My mother taught me this. In addition, we should focus on love and forgiveness of others and ourselves. The law of the octave is the tenet Where mathematics and music equally partake, as Herman Hesse wrote in the Bead Game, (for which he received the Nobel prize in 1946). It is the common denominator of astronomy, mathematics, music and colour conforming with nature. Animals are in tune their hearing range is beyond ours. Farmers will confirm that cows produce more milk when music is played. Weve seen how snakes rise and weave from side to side in rhythm. A wonderful scene was witnessed last year when a Shamanic drum was played at the bottom of a garden, having fields on two sides. From the first note fifteen horses led by a black and white one, ears pricked, came from all directions. They formed a semicircle, then rabbits appeared from nowhere and made another semicircle, thus forming the complete ring. The drum beat, with human, equine and coney hearts were pulsating as one. A glimpse of heaven. Plants respond to the music of our voices, dont they? To Pythagoras music was number and the cosmos was music. Plato held that the soul of the universe is united by a musical concord. Music of the Spheres, was written by Joseph Strauss and Langard, all pointing to the truth that indeed music is the interlinkage of life. To reverberate with the vibrations we should bring ourselves into tune with All. Healing relies on openness and a willingness to let go mistaken ideas. Music holds the inspiration for us to experience illumination, wholeness, peace and unity.

THE HOME OF THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS

It took four years to complete the building of the Shrine of the Book (1961-1964). The building was finally inaugurated in April 1965, a month before the Israel Museum officially opened its gates to the general public. Although the present location of the Shrine differs from the originally planned location, the Shrine of the Book today proudly occupies a space which is at the heart of the political and cultural centre of the State of Israel, close to the Knesset, government offices, the Hebrew University, the Bank of Israel, and the Supreme Court Building. The Shrine of the Book was designed to house and display the exceptional archaeological findings: the Dead Sea Scrolls and other rare ancient manuscripts. The architects would have to find a way of articulating the religious and national values of Judaism in a way consonant with the universal issues of light and darkness, and good and evil, the main themes of the scrolls. As it turned out, they were to find the key in the actual setting of the discovery, in the physical realities of the desert, the rocks, the caves, and the endless light of the sun. Without resorting to a conventional massivity, a monumental effect was obtained by the striking juxtaposition of a white dome and a black basalt wall, unique shapes that are at once precise geometrical bodies, bearers of narrative and symbolic messages, and the focus of a space made eminently public and national, though on a human scale. As the dome covers a structure which is two-thirds below ground, its height is not great. Additional natural elements, such as the pool of water in which the dome sits, the natural stone dug from the site, and the abundant flora, complete the sense of connectedness with real and intimate human life. This aspect is maintained within as well. The central gallery is divided into two levels, thus affording a sense of intimacy and ensuring that the relatively few exhibits are not lost in an excessively large space. The underground structure recalls the caves in which the scrolls were discovered. The controlled temperature, humidity and light are designed to preserve the treasures in the Shrine of the Book in conditions similar to those that prevail in the Judaean Desert caves. The architects were moved by the connection between the discovery of the scrolls and the creation of the State of Israel, and the perfection of the central gallery expresses the completion of the historical cycle of exile. Kiesler and Bartos did indeed believe that architecture can speak to people in the language of symbols, and that the Shrine would be an extraordinary phenomenon in the Israeli landscape.
