IEEE Student Branch Executive Positions

CORE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE


Chair

shall ensure all branch activities are planned and completed shall preside at all branch meetings and required IEEE Vancouver Section meetings shall assume all other executive duties not otherwise delegated shall be responsible for ensuring events and activities are within scope of the organization goals and beliefs shall maintain relations with ECE and Engineering faculty, including the faculty staff, professors, and dean, and EUS

Vice Chair
shall perform all functions of the Chair in his/her absence or at his/her request shall assist in organization and planning of all branch events shall apply for IEEE awards: o IEEE Regional Exemplary Student Branch Award o The Darrel Chong Student Activity Awards o George Armitage Outstanding Student Branch Award

Secretary
shall keep a record of all activities of the branch shall submit all required reports to IEEE Headquarters shall carry on all communication necessary to conduct activities and/or meetings of the branch including organizing meetings, and keeping meeting minutes shall manage names and contact information of all branch members

Treasurer
shall receive all money and pay all debts of the branch, upon authorization of the Chair and Vice Chair shall keep an exact account of all receipts and expenditures shall use discretion when approving branch expenditures shall ensure branch has sufficient funds for current and upcoming events shall ensure that the roll over is sufficient for next year's operations

Senior Executive (Committee Leaders)

shall meet regularly with Committee Leaders to ensure tasks are being completed should act as a intermediary contact between committee leaders and the Core Executive Committee

Senior Executive (Society Chairs)

shall meet regularly with Society Chairs to ensure tasks are being completed should act as a intermediary contact between Society Chairs and the Core Executive Committee

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE LEADERS


International Field Trip Organizer
shall organize an annual international field trip for the following May shall apply for funding and file necessary reports and claim forms shall maintain budget to ensure sufficient funds shall designate team members to contact companies, research institutes, and universities for site visits shall contact travel agencies, hotels and airlines for flights, transportation, and hotel arrangements shall manage the trips advertisement, registration, and correspondence

IT and Website Leader


shall maintain and update branch website to reflect branch activities shall work with various committees to fulfill their online requirements, such as creating a registration page for Think Engineering New Website for competition

Recruitment & Advertisement Leader


shall organize information sessions - in September and March shall arrange a booth for IEEE Student Branch during Imagine Day in September shall create posters for branch events shall design the 2-page spread dedicated to the IEEE Student Branch in the Slipstick (EUS yearbook) using photos from the past year due February

Socials Leader
shall organize event(s) for IEEE Day (October 1) shall plan team-building activities for the branch (roughly once a month) shall organize large one-time events or smaller ongoing events (such as weekly skating at Thunderbird) Past Events: Dinner, Bowling, Go-Kart, BBQ, Skating, Ski Trips, Gaming Night, etc.

Seminars and Workshops Leader


shall organize the Graduate Studies Information Session shall organize workshops(MATLAB, LaTeX, etc) with Electrical and Computer Graduate Student Association (ECEGSA) shall organize seminars with Society Chairs

Think Engineering Leader


shall coordinate the major industry networking event of the year shall contact hotels during summer to confirm venue and date shall designate team members to contact companies for sponsorship shall contact SFU and BCIT Student Branch representatives to arrange registration and promotion at their universities. shall designate team members to design advertisement posters and event programs shall designate team members to do seating plan, name tags, and name stands shall advertise event and start student registration in January shall act as a liaison with the hotel for floor plans, table arrangements, and technical equipment

T-Shirt Committee Leader


shall have designed a t-shirt that will be distributed to the team at the end of the school year

EXECUTIVE SOCIETY CHAIRS


Communication Society (COMSOC) Chair
shall organize Wireless Venture Competition (February) shall organize events related to all communications technologies These events include lab and industry tours, networking events and socials (such as Fortinet)

Computer Society Chair


shall organize IEEE Xtreme Competition (Third Week of October) shall organize Computer Science Technical Career Fair 2014 shall organize events related to computing technologies These events include lab and industry tours, networking events and socials

Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) Chair


shall organize events for EMBS members events include lab and industry tours, networking events, competitions and socials

McNaughton Centre Chair


shall focus on building and maintaining our IEEE Office. shall identify necessary equipment upgrades (printer/computers), and office supplies (stapler/etc).

Power and Energy Society (PES) Chair


shall organize events related to electrical power and energy industry shall organize the PES Industry Mixer (November) These events include lab and industry tours, networking events and socials

Women In Engineering (WIE) Chair


shall organize events for Women In Engineering members. previous events: Coffee House Conversations, networking events and seminars

OTHER EXECUTIVE LEADERS/ROLES


Photographer
shall photograph branch events to commemorate these momentous occasions These art pieces are to be given to the appropriate leaders
