ND nd

APRIL

I would like to invite our children in Reception to Class 6 to get involved with a small Easter project over the holidays. nd Children are invited to bring an Easter hat or bonnet on the first day of next term (Tuesday 22 April) which they have played a significant part in making themselves. We propose to hold a competition when the children return on their first day back and hold a parade assembly to let our children show off their headwear. Hats will be judged by members of staff and prizes awarded to winning entries. We hope that this will be a really colourful and enjoyable event where most children will manage to make an entry. I also hope that this will be something that they enjoy doing over the long break. Hats or bonnets should have an Easter theme which may run along the lines of new life, spring, chicks etc. I have seen a really wide range of creative ideas in the past and I hope that the children of Walton-le-Dale will enjoy this! DRESS AS YOU LIKE DAY FRIDAY 4
TH

APRIL 6PM

On the last day of term, children will be invited to come dressed as they like. We would like to kindly ask for a th donation of an Easter Egg donation towards a forthcoming Easter Games Night held by the PTA on Friday 25 April. Adults and children will have a really fun evening getting together playing quizzes, chocolate egg tombola, playing bingo, treasure egg hunting and playing other games in the process of winning Easter eggs! CAREFUL DRIVING Please may I ask that parents who pick up and drop their children off via the Danesway gate to be careful when they are driving and parking before and after school. Certain vehicles have been reported to the school to have been driving quickly and mounting pavements in a dangerous fashion. I would be most grateful for your support in the interests of all of our childrens and parents safety. CHOIR CANCELLED Due to unforeseen circumstances, choir will not be on this week. We will endeavour to hold a rehearsal to replace this one in school before next weeks assembly. BOOK/DVD FAIR 2PM TUESDAY 1

Also, if your child attends a new after school activity/club please let Mrs France know in advance. This will be much appreciated. LEWIS BALYCKYI MEMORIAL CRITS Lewis was an ex pupil from this school who was a keen bike enthusiast. He started his racing, riding for a local team to us, The Ribble Valley Juniors and moved on to ride for the British Cycling Talent Team. His dream was to race abroad but unfortunately did not get this chance after his accident in 2011. We have some raffle tickets for sale in the school th office to be able to win a cycling holiday to Spain amongst other prizes! The draw will be held on Sunday 11 May 2014 and tickets are only 1. For more information on the trust fund set up for Lewis please visit http://www.lbtf.org/ MONEY ENVELOPES Please may I remind parents that all money brought into school for trips/dinner money etc. must be in a sealed envelope when handed into the office or put in our secure boxes. We have secure post boxes installed in the entrance to Foundation 1 and 2, both year 1 classes and the cloakroom in year 2.We also have a secure mail box in the KS1 hall for parents whose children attend breakfast/after school club and a secure box in the entrance by the office. Please place the money in the relevant boxes, this way no teachers are responsible for collecting money. Miss Boyle will empty these boxes every morning after registration. Money for after school club payments can be put in their own payment box in the KS1 hall on the left hand side. WILLOW WORK Soon, a willow tunnel is to be built around the tyre play area in the junior field. This is the result of a prior decision made by our School Council. This hopefully will help absorb the rain that falls in this area of the school grounds and be a fun and natural resource for our children to enjoy at playtimes in the future. We hope that the willow artist will also spend some time with the ECO Club as she is constructing it. NUMBER 10 - FOOTBALL KIT! Can you help, our football kit Number 10 shirt and shorts are missing and we would really appreciate you having a look if your child has borrowed it in the last term or so. If you have it, please leave it at the school office and run away as fast as possible. Nobody will ever know!
