James 3:11 Doth a
fountain send forth
at the same place
sweet water and
bitter?
I am a people watch-
er. I like to go shop-
ping with my wife
and just sit and
watch the people go
by. I am always
amazed at the differ-
ent sizes, shapes,
color, and behaviour
of people. What real-
ly is amazing to me
is how people
change. Ive seen
children acting just
as nice as can be
suddenly turn and
cuss out their Mother
because she would-
nt buy her some toy.
Couples walking in
the mall, hand in
hand, suddenly turn
on each other as if to
fight.
Our verse today
questions the possi-
bility of a fountain
bringing forth sweet
and bitter water at
the same time. The
answer is obvious,
no, it cant. The
fountain springing
from a Saved person
does not bring forth
the same that springs
from a lost person.
We Christians need
to be very careful,
what is inside will
get outside eventual-
ly. Make sure of
your calling.
God Bless;

Technical College System
of Georgia Commissioner
Ron Jackson has
announced the creation of
an 11-person search com-
mittee that will assist him
in the process to select the
next president of West
Georgia Technical College.
The committee will be
chaired by Mark Whitlock,
the CEO of the Central
Educational Center in
Newnan. In the coming
weeks, Whitlock and his
fellow committee members
will conduct interviews
with the applicants for the
position then inform
Jackson of their top three
candidates. Jacksons
choice will replace Dr.
Skip Sullivan, who
resigned on December 31
to become the president of
Alfred State College in
Alfred, New York.
Joining Whitlock on the
committee are Kali
Kirkham Boatright, presi-
dent and CEO of the
Douglas County Chamber
of Commerce; State
Senator Mike Dugan of
Carrollton (District 30);
Page Estes, president of the
LaGrange-Troup County
Chamber of Commerce;
Delores Goldin, vice presi-
dent of the West Georgia
Technical College
Foundation; Randy
Jackson, senior vice presi-
dent of human resources
and administration, Kia
Motors and Manufacturing
Georgia, Inc.; Mike Lee,
chairman of the West
Georgia Technical College
Board of Directors; James
Van S. Mottola, chairman
of the West Georgia
Technical College
Foundation; State
Representative Randy Nix
of LaGrange (District 69);
Mike Wiggins, executive
vice president (retired),
Southwire Company; and
Ricky Wolfe, chairman of
the Troup County
Commission.
Im pleased to be assisted
in this presidential search
by a committee of well-
respected individuals from
throughout the region
served by West Georgia
Technical College. I value
each of their opinions and
have great trust in their
ability to help me select an
outstanding leader who can
build upon the colleges
strong reputation as an
excellent source for the
knowledge and skills that
people need for todays
highly technical jobs, said
Jackson.
The three candidates cho-
sen by the committee will
be interviewed by the sen-
ior management at the sys-
tems Atlanta office before
their final interview is
scheduled with Jackson.
His choice for the presi-
dents job is subject to the
approval of the 22 mem-
bers of the state board that
oversees the TCSG.
The process to select the
next president of WGTC is
expected to take several
weeks.

Health Tip
Know Anyone
With A Cold
Or Flu?
West Ga. Back Pain Center, 706-616-6775
I cant believe its still snowing and cold enough for
freezing rain!!! Well as you know, this change back and
forth in the weather can really wreak havoc on one's
immune system. So someone you know, love or care
about (maybe even you) comes down with the cold or
flu.
Traditionally you would take an anti-biotic, but that
would be counter productive because colds and the flu
come from viruses (corona/rhino virus). Anti-biotics
only have an effect on bacteria, not viruses. So what can
you do . . . . L-Glutamine! Thats right, the amino acid
L-Glutamine Powder can and does stop cold/flu in less
that 12 hours. Its 100% safe (because its an essential
amino acid) and if you take 2 tablespoons (adult dosage)
right before bedtime... the next morning you are back to
normal!

My brother Gary went in the
Navy just out of school. When
he and Etta were transferred to
Antiqua, West Indies we decid-
ed to visit them. None of us had
ever been on a plane and we
didnt know what to expect.
I wanted to see them but I did-
not want to have to fly to do it.
Mom and dad finally talked me
into going.
The night before we were to
leave I could not sleep so I
stayed up watching T.V. Of all
the things that was on it was
Airport. That is the one
where they highjack the plane
and then blow it up. I decided
right than I was not going,
again. Dad told me I have your
ticket, you are going.
When we got there we
unloaded the luggage. Mom
said I acted like a pro. I called a
bellboy to get our luggage and I
tipped him what I was suppose
to. I read all the charts for
arrivals and departures. I found
ours and got us on the correct
concourse going to our gate. I
saw this on Airport so I knew
what to do.
After we got on the plane my
brain totally left my body.
Mom, dad and Phyllis were
seated across the aisle from me.
Its a good thing I didnt have
to do anything else. We would
have never left the ground. I sat
down and latched on to the
sides of my seat. A crane could-
nt have removed me from that
seat. If we crashed I would
have had my seat with me. The
stewardess told me to fasten my
seat belt. I would have to move
my hands. Not!!!!!!!!!!. She
finally did it for me. I had no
control over my hands or my
body.
Now we are taking off. I feel
this heavy pressure in my chest.
I thought I was having a heart
attack. I found out later that it
is normal to have that pressure.
I also thought I would get bet-
ter once we took off. It didnt.
I started to cry before we got
down the runway. Phyllis to
this day says she will not get on
a plane because of me. My ears
started popping and I thought I
was losing my hearing. Two
things I knew for sure I would
have my seat and I wouldnt
hear us crash.
The stewardess told us we
could take our seat belts off. Is
she crazy or something? Mine
is on until the plane lands. She
starts telling us what to do in
case we crash. That is not help-
ing me because I couldnt
remember a thing she said.
Once she said crash that was it.
And then of all things here
comes the Captain and tells us
to relax we are now cruising at
35,000 feet. Now do they think
somebody is going to relax that
high up in the air. People were
up walking around just like
nothing was going on. The
stewardess came by and told
me I could take my seat belt
off. I told her in no uncertain
terms NO. She looked at me
and asks me if I needed a drink
to calm me down. I said
YES. Mom said no she does
not need anything she will be
all right. How does she know
Ill be all right, I dont even
know Ill be all right.

Every day, in Troup,
Meriwether, and Heard
County, Georgia, cancer
patients need help getting to
their life-saving cancer
treatment. If
you want to provide assis-
tance to cancer patients in
Troup, Meriwether, and
Heard
Counties, the American
Cancer Society needs you!
The Society is recruiting
volunteers in
Troup, Meriwether, and
Heard Counties to drive
cancer patients to and from
their treatment through the
American Cancer Societys
Road To Recovery pro-
gram.
Many cancer patients in
Troup and surrounding
counties do not own a vehi-
cle, cannot afford the extra
gasoline or do not have
public transportation. Some
patients are elderly
and unable to drive and
have no family members or
friends to provide regular
assistance
with transportation. Without
access to reliable transporta-
tion, cancer patients are
often unable to get regular
treatment.
For Troup, Meriwether, and
Heard County-area residents
interested in becoming
Road to Recovery volunteer
drivers, a training is sched-
uled for February 27, 2014
from 10:00am 12:00 noon
at the West Georgia Health
System Enoch Callaway
Cancer Clinic, 111 Medical
Drive, LaGrange, GA. The
meeting will take place in
the conference room.
There are so many cancer
patients in our communities
who need help with
transportation to cancer
treatment, says Pam
Ashman, the Societys
Mission Delivery
Specialist. If patients can-
not get to treatment on a
regular basis, their chances
for surviving cancer are
greatly diminished. You can
help save lives by becoming
a volunteer driver with the
American Cancer Societys
Road to Recovery pro-
gram.
Requirements for volunteer-
ing for the Road to
Recovery program include a
good driving record, a valid
drivers license, auto insur-
ance, and a vehicle that is in
good working condition.
Drivers must be 18 years of
age or older. The Society
conducts criminal
background and DMV
checks on drivers who
apply for the Road to
Recovery program.
To RSVP for the training on
February 27th, call 706-
812-2191 at Enoch
Callaway Cancer
Clinic.

American Cancer Society Seeks Volunteers in Troup, Meriwether, and
Heard County, Georgia To Drive Cancer Patients To And From Treatment
Continued From Pg. 8
They start to serve snacks and
drinks. I couldnt take my
hands off the sides of my seat
to take them. Mom had to get
my tray and put them on it. She
asks me what I was going to do
if I needed to go to the bath-
room. I assured her I wouldnt
have to go. The stewardess
came back and said you have
not touched your snack. I told
her I couldnt because my
hands wouldnt move. She
thought I was a crazy person.
The trip from Atlanta to Miami
was just one hour. It seem like
ten hours to me. We were fly-
ing Delta and it was the first
one in the horseshoe shaped
airport. I say that because
Miami Airport is built like a
horseshoe. We were going to
fly Pan-Am to Antiqua. It so
happen to be the last one on the
other end. This will be
important at the end of my
story, remember it.
We boarded our plane. I was a
little calmer this time. Not!!!! I
sit down in that seat and lost all
reasoning. I was across the
aisle again seated between two
men. The stewardess told us it
was going to be a three hour
trip to San Juan. I believe thats
what the Skipper on Gilligans
Island told his crew. Besides I
was too busy watching every
one that got on the plane.
Sometimes you have to do that
to make sure there are no high-
jackers getting on the plane.
Everybody looked like high-
jackers to me. If thats not
enough we have got to fly near
The Bermuda Triangle. I think I
would rather be highjacked
than lost forever in The
Bermuda Triangle. One of the
men next to me noticed my
fear. I really dont know why?
He told me that he would teach
me some Spanish. It helped to
get my mind off the fact we
were again cruising at 35,000
feet.
The stewardess started to serve
lunch. I thought maybe that
would take my mind off the
deep, deep ocean under us. I
seem to be a little calmer and
remove my hands from the
seat. By this time I am a little
hungry. So far so good. And
then, we hit an air pocket and
dropped about two feet. Instead
of my coffee being in the cup it
is two feet in the air from my
cup. That was it we were going
down. I yelled so loud that I
had everybodys attention. I
grabbed the man beside me
around the neck and yelled we
are crashing. I almost choked
him to death before someone
got my hands loose. The stew-
ardess ask me if I was traveling
with anyone. I looked at mom
and was about to tell her but
mom spoke up and said we
dont know this person. I didnt
believe it, my own parents said
they didnt know me.
Now we are landing in San
Juan. We will be there long
enough to pick up some passen-
gers going to Antiqua.
Everyone was getting off.

We waited awhile and then
everybody was seat belted in, I
already was because I never
took mine off, I told the lady
that the man that sit next to me
had not got back on the plane.
She said I know, that was
strange because he was suppose
to get back on. He decided to
take a boat to Bermuda. I won-
der why? It would be just thirty
minutes by plane. Go figure.
We had fun there. I did worry a
lot about the trip home. That
time come fast. The trip to San
Juan has uneventful. There is
something about sitting down
in that seat. I latch on to it and
cant let go. They told us we
had a five hour layover. That
did not make me happy. If I
was going to crash I didnt
want to wait five hours to do it.
Once we started to board. I
noticed a unusual large amount
of people getting on the plane. I
was sure it wouldnt be able to
take off. It had over two hun-
dred people on it. The trip to
Atlanta was uneventful. Could
be I slept most of the way.
We landed in Miami and
checked in at Pan Am. We were
told that there was a plane leav-
ing for Atlanta in ten minutes
but we would have to wait four
hours because we would not be
able to get to Delta in ten min-
utes. These people do not know
me. Maybe that is a good thing.
I ask them if they had four
seats on the earlier plane. They
said they did but they were not
together. Mom quickly said that
will be okay. I told them we
would be on the earlier plane.
Call and let them know we are
coming. They told me we
would never make it but they
would make the arrangements.
Remember I said Pan Am is the
last one in the horseshoe and
Delta is the first, well I told
mom, dad and Phyllis to run.
We are going to make that
plane. If I was going to crash I
wanted it to be sooner not four
hours later. They did tell me
that our luggage might not
make it. At this point I didnt
care. I would wait on it in
Atlanta if I ever got there.
I told them if they couldnt run
as fast as me when I got there I
would hold the plane for them.
I pulled off my shoes and ran
just as hard as I could. When I
saw Delta I motioned for every-
one to hurry. We made it. After
I got seated my hands latched
on to that seat again. Mom, dad
and Phyllis had seats together
near the back. My seat was
over the wing. They didnt
know it yet but that was a big
mistake.
It was just one hour but a lot
can happen in one hour. About
half way there it started to rain.
Actually it was storming with
thunder and lightening. I
looked out the window and saw
one of the engines on fire. I
started yelling and screaming
the plane is on fire, the plane is
on fire. You have seen these
cartoons where everybody leans
one way and the plane tilts.
Well that was the way it was on
this one. The stewardess came
over to me and, through
clutched teeth, said that was
lightening I was seeing. Oh
well. I never hurts to be pre-
pared. I do know everybody
was on edge until we landed.
Surely that was not my fault.
By the time we landed in
Atlanta I had promised the
Lord all sorts of things, One of
them being I would never get
on another plane. I wanted to
kiss the Georgia red clay, but
have you ever looked for dirt at
the airport. Also wonders
never cease our luggage was on
that plane. I dont know how
they did it. They went to a lot
of trouble to get it on the plane.
I am guessing it had nothing to
do with me.

"I was wondering God, if
when I die, just after my
earthly body gives into your
call, instead of going to
Heaven could you let me be
a cloud?"
"Hmmm," God said. "Why
would you ever want to be a
cloud? They block the sun.
They rain on picnics and
parades."
"Forgive me, God. I don't
mean that kind of cloud. I
want to be one of those
big, puffy clouds. You
know the kind of cloud
that makes people stop
and point. The kind of
cloud that takes your
breath away when you
first see it."
"Oh, I see," replied God.
"I want to begin some-
where and travel as far as
I can. I want to bring com-
fort to those who need
protection. I want to dance
across the horizon at the
very edge of a young cou-
ples view of the ocean. I
want make them smile.
I want to be a part of an
artist's view of the world. I
want to be captured in a
photograph and when
viewed I want people to
long for such a moment in
their lives, too.
I want to reflect the sun-
light at dawn and light up
with the hues of autumn
on a crisp cold day."
"I see," God said softly.
"Please, God, don't let this
life be the end of it all. I
want to finally know that
people will look up to
me."
"The end? I suggest that
you don't wait until the
end. Why not live your
life so that you accomplish
all of that while you are
alive?" said God.
"How?"
"Begin right where you
are. Travel as far as your
mind can imagine. Bring
comfort to those who need
it. Dance along the shore
to the music of the ocean.
Make memories so that in
the Autumn of your life
you will be a reflection of
a life well
lived to warm your heart
on the coldest of days,"
said God.
And so I have lived that
way for as long as I can
remember. I am a cloud on
the way to Heaven. What
do you want to be?

The American Cancer
Society is a global grass-
roots force of more than
three million volunteers
saving lives and fighting
for every birthday threat-
ened by every cancer in
every community. As the
largest voluntary health
organization, the Society's
efforts have contributed to
a 20 percent decline in can-
cer death rates in the U.S.
since 1991, and a 50
percent drop in smoking
rates. Thanks in part to our
progress nearly 14 million
Americans who have had
cancer and countless more
who have avoided it will
celebrate more birthdays
this year. As we mark our
100th birthday in 2013,
we're determined to finish
the fight against cancer.
We're finding cures as the
nations largest private, not-
for-profit investor in cancer
research, ensuring people
facing cancer have the help
they need and continuing
the fight for access to quali-
ty health care, lifesaving
screenings, clean air, and
more. For more informa-

the fight, call us anytime,
