ROLE OF PAKISTAN NAVY IN NATIONAL DEFENCE INTRODUCTION

After a long struggle, our ancestors were succeeded in achieving the goal of a separate homeland. From the first day of independence, Pakistan is struggling for her existence. Creation of Pakistan is against the aspirations and post British era plans of Hindu ma ority of su!"continent. #ndia did not accept our separate identification and sovereignty. $he never missed any chance to desta!ili%e us. #ndia has imposed four wars on Pakistan. Being having an enemy who is far heavier in si%e, survival is a tough challenge. #t is necessary for a country like Pakistan to pay full attention towards her defense. For defending the geographical !oundaries, Pakistan has all the three wings of defence forces. &o look after the sea frontier, Pakistan 'avy is ever ready. Pakistan 'avy has a vital role in defence of country against any aggression.

WHAT IS NATIONAL DEFENCE


Protecting oneself from any aggression is called defence. (here there is offence, there is defence or counter"offence. As we know creation of Pakistan is against the wills of Hindu leaders, this has created enmity in the hearts of Hindus of the #ndia. &hey always remain ready and make plans to endanger our national security. Beside the inherited enmity of #ndia against Pakistan, !oth the countries have a !ig territorial dispute i.e illegal occupation of #ndia on )ashmir. As per the partition plan, )ashmir was suppose to oin Pakistan, !ut due to the conspiracy !etween British, *ahara a of )ashmir and the Congress leadership, )ashmir was occupied !y #ndia forcefully. 'ow it is the state policy of Pakistan to provide moral and political support to the )ashmiries in their struggle for self" determination. $o far this dispute has caused four wars !etween Pakistan and #ndia. (henever the freedom struggle ac+uires tempo into the occupied valley, #ndia tries to pressuri%e Pakistan. &o face the #ndian threat and in order to make sure that our sovereignty is secured, we have to strengthen our defence. Pakistan Army, Pakistan 'avy and Pakistan Airforce are vigilant on the land, sea and air !oundaries, with the eagle eyes.

INDIAN NAVAL THREAT


Pakistan and #ndia have a common !oundary of more than thousand miles. &o defend the ground and air !oundaries, Pakistan Army and Airforce are doing their o! very well. Pakistan has also !estowed with ,,-- '* of seacoast. #t is a vulnera!le area for enemy attack. (e know that maritime warfare is playing a vital role in the modern wars. All the developed countries are depending heavily on their 'avies. #n the recent past after collapse of $oviet .nion, .$A has emerged as the only super power. (e witnessed that all the off"

shore campaigns of .$A were accomplished !y the maritime supremacy of American war machine. #ndia has an old am!ition of !ecoming a regional super power. $he tries to follow the example of .$A in the region. #ndia is trying to develop her 'avy on the patron of .$A for offshore attacks. #ndia is struggling to transform her 'avy from a regional 'avy into !lue water 'avy. Pakistan 'avy is comparatively far less in si%e to the #ndian 'avy. /ur sea frontiers are a vulnera!le area in case of war. Pakistan 'avy has to make sure the security of our sea frontiers.

DEFENSIVE ROLE
#n case of war, Pakistan 'avy has to deploy all its elements against any possi!le enemy attack. 0efence of coastal areas of Pakistan and territorial waters is the prime role of Pakistan 'avy. #n war condition, all coastal installations are re+uired to !e protected from any attack. Pakistan 'avy has to guard at sea against any enemy movement in the area of responsi!ility. #t has to !uild a !arrier against #ndian 'avy approach to our coastline. $ecure movement of our merchant fleet in war days is the foremost responsi!ility of Pakistan 'avy. 2ogistics line of the country heavily depends on the sea routes. For continue supply of re+uired material from whole over the world P' has to look"after the sea trade routes.

OFFENSIVE ROLE
(henever ordered, Pakistan 'avy has to prove her attacking power. Pakistan 'avy is a four dimensional force. #t has the a!ility to impose offensive posture against enemy. P' has done this in the past. 0warka is an example of successful attack on the enemy area. P' $u!marine force is one of the !est $u!marine forces, which is capa!le to !lock the #ndian warship movements.
