MEMORANDUM March 31, 2013 TO: Interested Parties FROM: Jim Williams, Public Policy Polling RE: 13 New

Polls Show Voters Support Raising Minimum Wage In Swing Republican Congressional Districts; Would Hurt GOP Reps Who Vote Against Raising the Minimum Wage. Majorities of voters in 13 swing Congressional Districts currently held by Republicans support raising the minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $10.10 an hour and pluralities of voters in each District would be less likely to vote for incumbents who vote against raising the minimum wage, new surveys from Public Policy Polling show. The surveys, commissioned and paid for by MoveOn.org Political Action, show Republican incumbents would be out of step with their constituents if they did not vote in favor of raising the minimum wage and would risk being voted out of office. In every District a clear majority of voters said they supported raising the minimum wage and at least 60% of voters said they supported doing so in NY-11, and NY-19. And in each District a plurality of voters said they would be less likely to vote for their representative if they did not vote to raise the minimum wage, with at least 40% of voters saying they would be less likely to vote for the incumbents in FL-07, IL-13, MI-08, NJ-05, NY-11, NY-19, PA-16, and WI-07. This includes a plurality of Independent voters in every District surveyed with the exception of OH-14. The polls were conducted between March 20-25, with sample sizes of at least 500 voters who say they will definitely vote this November in each District.
