Schools of Denver

Starting with the 2006 school years fall, much of colleges in the school sys
tem of Denver their campuses will close during the lunch. This means that on
e will not allow students of schools of Denver to leave the campus to eat at
the close restaurants, food of fast preparation, and the convenience stores.

The supervisor of schools of Denver Michael Bennet presented the final versi
on of the new policy, called the plan of Denver, in spring of 2006. Simplet
on believes that its plan will reduce the increasing absenteeism of afternoo
n in the colleges.

The plan of schools of Denver took several outlines to reach the execution.
The project was presented to the directors of Denver in November of 2005, s
uggesting that the schools could subject requests for lifting in April to ex
empt the older students in the 11èmes and 12èmes categories. A second outl
ine was presented to the directors of Denver in February 2006, modifying the
original policy by declaring that more time was necessary to determine how
the policy would be application. At a meeting of March of the directors of D
enver, the administrators presented the final plan, which requires of all th
e first-year students to remain lit campus. Liftings can be required for the
other categories of 10th, of 11th and of 12th.

After the meeting, the directors scrambled to do the new work of policy of s
chools of Denver. Since the program of lunching dictates the programs of cla

ssroom, the new plan of Denver causes an upheaval in many schools of Denver,
where they have a common lunch for all the students and professors. Multipl
e programs of lunching the small ones of cafeteria means of capacity must be
applied. For example, the college is schools of Denver is registered 2.092
students with a cafeteria this seats only 258. So only the 750 first-year st
udents are kept for on the ground of school during the lunch, at least three
periods of lunching will be required. This also disturbs the activities by
possible by one common period to lunch, such as meetings of club, the studen
ts meeting of the professors of classroom, and the students having a social
life with their friends and children of same parents who are in various clas
ses.

The directors of Denver must subject requests for lifting for their schools b
efore April of each former school year, which will be granted based on the qu
ality of the reduction plan of the absenteeism of the school. Principal consu
ltants with the personnel and the entry requested of the students and the com
munity before the decision so that which categories ask for liftings. To supp
ort their requests for lifting, they included data of student, such as the as
sistance. Moreover, it is not very clear if the schools of Denver with good
current rates of assistance will receive the special treatment; however, the
plan has a goal of rate of assistance of 97 percent for all the schools.

Although the directors of Denver received the new policy with mixed reviews,
the students oppose it vigorously. The hundreds of students dealt with foru
m of student on the matter and achieved an outline on line. It was the hotte
st matter with the school end of the year of schools 2005-2006 of Denver. Ev
en the children of college discussed with heat the subject, since the policy
will affect them in the near future. The students are in the total agreemen
t that the schools of Denver better would be been used by aiming their effor
ts of anti-absenteeism to the students with real problems as assistance. The
students see the new policy like punishment for all the students.
