Blinkys Random Thoughts

These are actual comments made by South Carolina Troopers that were taken off their car videos:1. You know, stop lights dont come any redder than the one you just went through. 2. Relax, the handcuffs are tight because theyre new. Theyll stretch after you wear them a while. 3. If you take your hands off the car, Ill make your birth certificate a worthless document. 4. If you run, youll only go to jail tired. 5. Can you run faster than 1200 feet per second? Because thats the speed of the bullet thatll be chasing you. 6. You dont know how fast you were going? I guess that means I can write anything I want to on the ticket, huh? 7. Yes, sir, you can talk to the shift supervisor, but I dont think it will help. Oh, did I mention that Im the shift supervisor? 8. Warning! You want a warning? OK, Im warning you not to do that again or Ill give you another ticket. 9. The answer to this last question will determine whether you are drunk or not. Was Mickey Mouse a cat or a dog? 10. Fair? You want me to be fair? Listen, fair is a place where you go to ride on rides, eat cotton candy and corn dogs and step in monkey poop. 11. Yeah, we have a quota. Two more tickets and my wife gets a toaster oven. 12. In God we trust; all others we run through NCIC. ( National Crime Information Center) 13. Just how big were those two beers you say you had? 14. No sir, we dont have quotas anymore. We used to, but now were allowed to write as many tickets as we can. 15. Im glad to hear that the Chief (of Police) is a personal friend of yours. So you know someone who can post your bail. 16. You didnt think we give pretty women tickets? Youre right, we dont. Sign here maam.

EASTON NEIGHBORS TO DISCUSS CONSUMER RESPONSE TO HIGH UTILITY BILLS APRIL 7

We are all glad that winter is over. Along with the bitter cold there was the bitter surprise of high utility bills that came our way. Is this simply the law of supply and demand? All neighbors and friends are invited to attend the meeting on Monday, April 7, 2014, at the Easton United Methodist Church on Route 40. The meeting begins with a social time and potluck. Corn News: Corn demand here in the US remains extremely strong. Export commitments are now some 165% higher than last year at this time. Most sources thinking we need to sell fewer than 1 million tons within the next 5 months to reach the current USDA export estimate. Moral of the story, despite Chinese cancelations the USDA will still need to raise there total export estimate. I am still sticking to my guns at 1.8 billion bushels. A number I threw out over three months ago and everyone said I was nuts...Maybe??? Remember, in Argentina (the worlds #2 corn exporter) farmers seem more interested in harvesting soybeans right now rather than corn. The world's #3 exporter, Ukraine, is still a bit of a concern for some global importers. In other words I am thinking US corn exports could remain This weeks ag report is strong for a bit longer. The flip side to this sponsored by: bullish part of the equation is that the International Grains Council is estimating total global corn production at 961 million tons, basically 7 million metric tons higher than their previous estimate and 2 million metric tons higher than last year, putting world stocks at near 15-year highs. Or in other words about a 35% jump in stock in just two years time. Will it continue?

Did You Know?

Jason McCann is a fourth generation pharmacist working at McCanns Pharmacy & Adirondack Compounding. Located at 166 Main St. in Hudson Falls, on the Circle, this business has been serving the residents of the Hudson Falls region for over 115 years. That is quite the remarkable tradition, to say the least. Jason along with his father, Rich McCann, brother Matt, Uncle Brian and Aunt Kate continue the proud tradition and family name. This isnt just another pharmacy in a small town, but a place where families have been coming for 4 generations. The business has seen families grow and those families become part of the McCann family. Although much has remained the same over the years there are many new and exciting things going on at McCanns. Under Jasons lead he is helping steer the family business into a new direction, Compounding. What does this mean? The simple answer, compounding is the creation of a particular pharmaceutical product that is specific to a patients individual needs. In order to do this a compounding pharmacist will combine or process ingredients using a variety of tools and techniques to create a patients unique medication/compound. There are several reasons for a patient to require a compounded medication such as changing the dosage form from a solid pill to a liquid suspension because a patient cannot swallow pills or tablets. A few examples of why compounding is making a resurgence: many patients may be allergic to one or more ingredients of a manufactured medication, may require unique strengths or flavoring, or may wish to avoid certain side effects. Stop and think about how life could have been easier if your child enjoyed the taste of medications, or you didnt have to chase your pets around trying to force a pill down their throat. Take a patient that is in significant pain but unable to swallow or keep medicine down the traditional route, McCanns can compound a cream or lotion that will deliver the pain medication through the skin of the patient. McCanns can create unique creams, lotions, liquid suspensions, capsules, suppositories and various flavors. At Mcanns they Mix it to Fix it! In todays healthcare market, doctors and patients are seeing the benefits that compounding can offer them. Each patient is unique, so it is easy to see that the same medication will not work exactly the same for everyone. Why try to force something to work for you when you can have something created to meet your needs? Many of the customers at McCanns are excited to try the new service, and those that have do not know how they ever managed without their new compound. Since compounding is becoming such a large part of the pharmacy business, McCanns has decided to remodel their store to build a compounding lab. Once completed the compounding staff will be spending several hours in there, creating medications that will help to improve a patients disease state and health. To put a unique twist on the lab, it will have a large window allowing those walking or driving by the store to see the staff in action. People will get a firsthand view of what it takes to create medications and understand the care that goes into each step. McCanns encourages people to stop down and watch the process once it is open. So the next time you are at your doctor or veterinarians office let them know what Jason and McCanns Pharmacy & Adirondack Compounding can do for you, your children, your parents and your pets. Stop in and see what compounding is all about and ask any questions you may have, or give them a call at (518)-7474732. The staff is friendly and always willing to go the extra mile to help you out. Oh, and let them know we suggested it!

Financial Reviews
by Breanna Fulper
Financial Spring Cleaning Can Brighten Your Investment Picture We are all dreaming of the days getting longer and warmer a sure indication of the arrival of spring. Another sign of the season may be the urge you get to do some spring cleaning. But you might not have realized that some of the same spring-cleaning techniques that can be used on your home can also apply to your overall financial strategy. Here are a few ideas to consider: Get rid of clutter. As you do your spring cleaning, you may well find some clutter a bunch of items you no longer need. You might look at your portfolio and also find clutter in the form of investments that are no longer appropriate for your objectives. For example, perhaps some of them are virtual duplicates of other investments you own, thereby diminishing your potential for diversification. Or maybe some investments are now too risky for your needs. In any case, you may be better off rebalancing your portfolio. Get organized. As you clean your home, you might find ways to organize your belongings and furniture more efficiently. And you may also be able to organize your investments more effectively. One possibility: Consider consolidating your investment accounts with one provider. If you have an IRA here, another one there and some other investments scattered about, you may be paying more in fees than is necessary. By consolidating these investments, you might save money and paperwork and more importantly, you may find it easier, with all your investments under one roof, to follow a single, unified strategy or plan. Seal cracks. Over time, the grout between your kitchen or bathroom tiles can crack, so youll need to regrout to protect your flooring. And you may find that, in looking at your overall financial strategy, your protection component primarily in the form of insurance might have developed some cracks or chips. Specifically, has your life insurance kept up with changes in your family situation? Events such as marriage, remarriage or the arrival of a new child can all trigger the need to review your life insurance. And youll also want to make sure you have adequate disability insurance. Consult with a financial professional for information on appropriate protection vehicles. Do some dusting. As part of your spring cleaning, you may need to dust furniture, shelves and other surfaces in your home. And if youve been investing your money for a long time, you may need to metaphorically dust off your financial strategy to freshen it up to reflect changes in your life. To cite one possibility, as you get close to retirement, you may need to shift some but certainly not all of your growth-oriented investments into incomeproducing ones. But you may also need to review and revise your financial strategy at other points in your life, such as when you begin saving for your childrens college education. Just as spring cleaning can bring more light into your home, sprucing up your financial picture can help you brighten your outlook of achieving your goals. And these improvements can help you in all the seasons of your life.
