The Glasgow Kiwanis Swim Team invites any new swimmers to come out and be part of the gang for a fun-filled summer.

Glasgow Kiwanis Swim Team Gears Up for New Season

Warmer temperature and longer daylight have our swimmers dreaming about lanes and laps again! The board members of the Glasgow Kiwanis Swim Team (GKST) have been busy planning for the 2014 summer. The officers on the board are: President--Melani Vandall, vice-president Mike Kaiser, treasurer Lynn Miller, parent liaison Georgie Kulczyk, secretary Lih-An Yang, and past-president Scott Billingsley. Registration for the new season will take place on Wednesday, April 23, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the basement of the library. We welcome new swimmers, ages 4 to 19, to join us. If you are not sure about signing up your child at this time, or simply want some more information, feel free to come to the registration and chat with fellow swimmers. Also check out our website www.glasgowmtswim.com. Joining the swim team is a fun way for your child to become a proficient swimmer and stay fit while enjoying occasional weekend competitions. Rare is a sport which allows sibling athletes to travel to the same destination! The swim team is known for its family-like environment where swimmers cheer each other on and their main goal is simply to improve upon personal progress. Pressing on our agenda is the hiring of coaches. Having collegiate swimmers as coaches for the last few seasons has built success for the team. These college students were able to teach technical skills as well as develop continued on page 2

Kittleson Anchors Highlanders at Open

Nearly 1600 wrestlers converged on the Billings Metra for the premier amateur wrestling tournament in the state. 28 Highlanders made the journey to help contribute to one of the largest wrestling tournaments in Montana State history. Glasgow native Jason Weirs, Montana Open tournament director, has done an outstanding job over the past several years helping build this tournament into a powerful regional event. Led by tournament Champion Kohl Kittleson, the Highlanders came away with an impressive 10 total placers on the weekend. A number of others were just a match or two away from placing. There is nothing but good that can come from a tournament like the Montana Open, said Coach Jory Casterline. The kids that wrestled this weekend have gotten better each tournament. Their

5th and 6th places earlier in the year are turning into top three finishes. The State tournament in Butte this weekend wraps up the long and difficult season for the Highlanders. Expect another grinder, which caps off an extremely difficult stretch for the youngsters. These kids are doing everything thats asked of them and theyd run through a brick wall for their coaches. Their will to compete is strong.

Its not just the placers that are impressing Coach Casterline, though. You either win or you learn. Thats the way we look at it. All of our kids got better this weekend. Montana Open Placers

Riddle Time with Red

Mondays teaser: A man finds a small iron coin dated 154 B.C., whats it worth?

Answer: The coin is as phony as a $3 bill as the dating system that uses B.C. and A.D. wasnt created until the year 525 A.D. So it is essentially worthless unless you are able to find a real sucker. Todays teaser: You have a cube made of 10 x 10 x 10 smaller cubes, for a total of 1000 smaller cubes. If you take off 1 layer of cubes, how many remain?
