the PBA Scorpion Championship
during the PBA World Series of
Bowling V, where he competed on
a special invitation, earned 11,111

Fransson eliminated the PBA
Tours last hope for the Brunswick
Euro Challenge title when he
defeated Chris Loschetter of Avon,

ALLEN PARK, Mich. Bill ONeill and his Philadelphia Hitmen recorded the first sweep
in the 2014 Professional Bowlers Association League Elias Cup eliminations, knocking the
Pittsburgh Jack Rabbits out of the tournament at Thunderbowl Lanes and atoning for a dis-
appointing finish to their 2013 campaign.
A 235-225 victory in the five-man Baker team finale completed Philadelphias 6-0 sweep
of the singles, alternate ball doubles, Baker trios and Baker team competition and landed
the Hitmen, owned by actor/comedian Kevin Hart, a berth in the semifinal round against
the Silver Lake Atom Splitters. The battle of Pennsylvania, the fourth and final single-elim-
ination quarterfinal round match in the eight-team PBA League competition, aired on
ESPN.
It was a redeeming performance for the Hitmen, presented by High 5 Gear, who were in
position to make the Elias Cup finals in 2013 only to fade in the final qualifying round to
finish sixth.
It bothered me a lot that we did as bad as we did last year, ONeill said. We had a bad
last day. If we had avoided that, we would have been fine. But were back this year with a
couple of different guys and its turned out well because theyve done nothing but strike so
far. We didnt lose a game, so thats about as good as it gets.
Now we have the supposed dream team next, so hopefully well be able to beat their
butts, ONeill added, referring to a Silver Lake team loaded with past PBA Players of the
Year Chris Barnes, Tommy Jones and Wes Malott as well as 2013 POY contender Dom
Barrett and 2003 USBC Masters champion Bryon Smith.

Ryan Musciotto, Northvale, saw his first perfect game after only 9 years
of bowling. This 26-year-old right-hander posted 229-300-225 for his high-
est sanctioned series to date, a 754. He did this in one of his four weekly
leagues, the Wednesday Night Triples at Montvale Lanes, where his aver-
age went up to 206. He used a Gold Storm IQ Pearl fitted by Al Jones of
the Pro Image Pro Shop.
He got his start in the Special Olympics, where Jonathan Rogers
coached him. Then he attended Bowling Boot Camp five times at
Rockaway Lanes and among others was coached by Ken Yokobosky. That
came in handy; before Ryan rolled his twelfth shot he remembered from
camp to breathe through your nose and focus on your target. He also said
that after that strike he was screaming like a nut. He chose the ring for
his achievement.
This bowl-a-holic enjoys leagues at Montvale and Parkway Lanes. He
has shot a 290 game in the Special Olympics, the only one in the entire state
to do this in a tournament. He finished first in the handicap division of the
American Games. He has also recently posted games of 297 and 298. Its
no wonder that he aspires to be a professional bowler. He would also like
to post an 800 series, which is probably forthcoming!
Ryan bowled for District 12s King Pins and carried a 194 average into
the competition. This years Special Olympics tournaments began on Super
Bowl Sunday and finished at the state finals on March 30.

NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - In
the NJSIAA Individual
Championships, Glen Rock sen-
ior Jake Rollins faced the red-hot
Allentown senior Matt Russo in
the title match and left nothing to
chance, firing a perfect game to
take home the state title. Russo,
who had averaged 255 in the
qualifying rounds to earn the top
seed, never imagined that failing
to strike early would seal his
fate. The sizzling lefty with the
potent two-handed delivery
could only stare in disbelief as
the second-seeded Rollins rattled
off twelve explosive strikes, the
first time this has been accom-
plished in a championship finale.
In the girls stepladder,
Nottingham doesnt field a team,
but it hasnt stopped senior
Raychel Waltz from competing
each year as an independent. Just
three places shy of reaching the
finals as a junior, Waltz put it all
together, qualifying as the third
seed with a 1331 six-game score.
The road didnt get easier from
there as she was seriously chal-
lenged by fourth seed Larissa
Eak of Woodbridge before eking
out a 257-254 win. Waltz needed
to continue smoking the pins as
second seed Alexis Policastro of
Carteret rolled a blistering 250,
but shy of white-hot Waltz 255.
In the Championship contest,
Raychel simply couldnt be
stopped, continuing her awe-
some display with a 264 to cap-
ture the girls crown, stopping top
seed Alize Stevenson of Roselle
who scored 213. Waltz three
game stepladder total of 776 may
well be the highest ever recorded
in the NJSIAA girls stepladder
finals. Congratulations to the
2014 Individual Champions who
put on quite a show and to all the
participants who earned their
way to Carolier in the
Sectionals.

James Kane 729 Kelley Grippo 720
Top Stan Neimiec Youth League
By Vince Albrecht
HACKENSACK, NJ - The Bergen boys pulverized the plastic-sticks in
North 1-A Sectional at Bowler City and the Stan Niemiec youth travel-
ers took the cue and pounded the same friendly confines, scorching the
lanes with a seemingly endless shower of strikes. By the sessions end,
two 700s, seven 600s and forty-two 200s had been posted.
Leading the merciless onslaught for the boys was Paramus Catholic
junior James Kane 258-257-211: 726, Pompton Lakes freshman Nick
Cilento 234-255-202: 691, 13-year-old Ryan McGuire 202-219-248:
669 and Montville junior Karl Kattermann 215-237-214: 666.
As for the girls, two of the most talented North Jersey student athletes
are AHA senior Kelley Grippo and Teaneck senior Dana-Marie Laloo,
both of whom are competing in the state individual tournament at
Carolier on Wednesday and are very much in the mix for the areas
Bowler of the Year. They continued in relentless fashion to endlessly
scuttle the pins from the deck into the pit and right now, are clearly at
the top of their game. Kelley took no prisoners in flattening the maples
with scores of 200-256-264: 720 and Dana-Marie followed suit with
249-212-236: 697; both threesomes are season highs among the girls.
There was only a point difference prior to the clash between the
leagues top net teams, but Holiday held onto first place, prevailing in
three close games over Bowler City I, 2933-2836.
