OBJECTIVE: The South American Cities Network, REDCISUR, wants to promote a platform looking for integration and unity,

in order to improve political speech between local governments, strength democracy and governability, build a South American citizenship and identity, share good practices and consolidate social equality and cohesion. This political space/environment wants to find innovating solutions to common issues, in order to improve economical development, to affront/assume social and cultural challenges during the XXIst century, by the application of sustainable models of development, and improving the participative democracy. MISSION: The South American Cities Network, promotes the creation of a political scene on regional integration, looking for the subscription/adhesion of new local governments in South America, by the identification of subjects and fields to the exchange on good practices on urban management, proposing a regional agenda and working with others international networking where local governments have a place to act and improve the political voice of the region. VISION: The South American Cities Network, promotes the creation/building of a political scenario on South American regional integration, looking for the subscription of new memberships, identifying issues for the good practices exchanges on urban management, and working with others international networking where local governments have a place to act and improve the political voice of the local governments of the region.

ORIGINES: The REDCISUR initiative was promotes by the mayors of Quito, Lima and Bogot, the 7th of may 2012. Tthe subscription of an agreement on political spirit was signed by the following local governments: Buenos Aires Sucre La Paz Montevideo Asuncin Quito Lima Bogot RECENT SUBSCRIPTIONS: Santiago de Chile Mexico City (honorific member)

EVENTS INTERNATIONAL FORUM ON HUMAN URBAN SAFETY IN LATIN AMRICA: the event took place in Bogota on December 2013. The principal subjects was: The promotion on security and citizen connivance. The forum was sponsored by ONU Habitat, and were invited international experts on human settlements like Jumma Assiago and Mr. Pablo Ruiz, coordinator of Resilience for the PNUD center for Latin America and the Caribbean and the local responsibles of security issues of the cities members of REDCIUR.

SUPPORTS Quito is candidate to organize HABITAT III taking place in 2016 Asuncion is candidate to "Green city of Iberoamerica" PROMOTION MECHANISMS News letter: "Our Network" is a bi-mensual document that promotes actions, and exchanges between REDCISUR members about the different issues on integration and international cooperation of the network. It is also a way to promote "good practices" exchange of opinions and positions about new challenges of the international agenda in our three principal issues: environment and climate change, security and urban safety and urban sustainable development. Web site: It's the official instrument to promote our issues and advancements, and it's the privileged place at the net where our cities are invited/able to diffuse significant news and relevant topics in the region, always around our 3 primary subjects.
