AutoCAD Civil 3D: Hydraflow Essentials

Course Description: After completing this course, students will be able to use the tools in the Hydraflow Hydrographs, Hydraflow Storm Sewers and Hydraflow Express programs to perform many of the common hydraulic and hydrologic tasks associated with typical civil engineering design practices. This course will teach students how to use the Hydraflow software suite to design and route surface and subsurface stormwater management facilities, design and analyze storm sewer pipe and inlet networks, design and analyze culverts, design and analyze channels, and design and analyze weirs.

Students will use AutoCAD Civil 3D to perform common H&H design tasks including delineation of drainage areas, calculating time of concentration, layout of storm sewers and grading detention ponds. Prerequisites: Students should have a of basic hydraulic and hydrologic principles and terminology before taking this course. Students should have basic knowledge of the following concepts: Rational, modified rational and SCS methodologies. Mannings equation. Design of stormwater management detention facilities.

Storm sewer layout and design. Although AutoCAD Civil 3D experience in not mandatory, this course will introduce the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D to perform common H&H tasks. It is recommended that students should have completed an AutoCAD Civil 3D essentials class or have working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D prior to taking this course in order to obtain the greatest possible benefit from this class. It is important to note that this is NOT an AutoCAD Civil 3D course and time will not allow for teaching basic AutoCAD Civil 3D tasks and functions.
