! Gorongosa National Park in Mozambique is one of the most biodiverse environments on the planet. The issue of deforestation and reforestation is therefore particularly important. This guide includes satellite imagery of Gorongosa from the years 2000 and 2012. Areas of deforestation over this period are marked in red, areas of reforestation are marked in blue. Images and data are from Global Forest Change http://earthenginepartners.appspot.com/science-2013global-forest, a collaboration among the University of Maryland, NASA and Google. Overall there is relatively little deforestation within the park, but outside park boundaries there is significant deforestation in populated areas.
