Transportation is a very important factor in many societies.

The different types of transportation include automobiles, such as cars and busses, railways, such as trains and metros, and air, such as airplanes. Each one is affected by its population and affects its surrounding areas. For example, planes cause a lot of pollution to surrounding areas. That is why regions that are surrounded by mountains, such as Mexico City, are affected by the pollution caused by planes. Transportation can play a large role in a societys culture because they form the link between it and other countries. This is why globalization is becoming an even bigger factor in todays society. Globalization is the process of international integration by exchanging worldviews, products, and ideas to other cultures. Transportation is helping to increase globalization because that is what moves people around. Cars are an important factor in moving people around within close proximity, while planes and trains are used more for going from country to country. Transportation also helps with globalization because it brings people closer together. It allows people to travel farther distances in shorter times. For example, a new fashion line in Germany can get to America in a much shorter time than it could 100 years ago. People can also use transportation to easily spread out across the Earth.

Transportation is also important in the roles of diffusion. There are four different types of diffusion: relocation diffusion, expansion diffusion, hierarchical diffusion, and contagious diffusion. Vehicles play a large part in relocation Relocation diffusion is the physical

diffusion and in contagious diffusion.

movement of people or things from one place to another. For example, when I person gets on a plane and flies to Switzerland, he or she is going through the process of relocation diffusion. Contagious diffusion is the rapid spread of a characteristic throughout the population. An example of that is taking a boat to Australia and bringing over an unknown disease. Then, when the disease spreads rapidly, that would be contagious diffusion. An example of a historical even when this happened was when the Europeans brought over diseases to America. Because vehicles allow people to move faster than ever before, diffusion is becoming much easier to do. Transportation has helped societies in many ways. It allows humans to move faster than ever before. The fastest car today is the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport at 268 mph (431 km/hr). It also allows for quicker globalization. Now, people are able to move from one side of the world to the other in hours. The different modes of transportation also allow quicker diffusion, which is the spread of ideas. Transportation has made a monumental impact of all of society.
