"It is above all in raising children that the family fulfils its mission to proclaim the Gospel of life.... The family celebrates the Gospel of life through daily prayer, both individual prayer and family prayer. The family prays in order to glorify and give thanks to God for the gift of life, and implores his light and strength in order to face times of difficulty and suffering without losing hope. But the celebration which gives meaning to every other form of prayer and worship is found in the family's actual daily life together, if it is a life of love and self-giving" (Pope John Paul II: The Gospel of Life, n.92-93).

NEXT WEBINAR
"Pope Francis - Our Hope"
presented by Father Ned Shinnick and Father Francis Schreiber April 15, 2014 12:00 PM - 1:00PM MST
Prayer for the 6th week of Lent Please keep in your prayers:
Please pray for: Artt Christofferson & Family, Barb Christofferson, Tom Boos, Doug French, Terry McKeon, Nate Simon, Cissy Adams, Jacob French, Terry Stiles, Kenny Ulrich, Gerry Williams, those from our local area serving in the military, and the Poor Souls in Purgatory. Anyone who needs to have prayers said for someone can call: Brenda Rummel at 301-0936; Jean Niebur at 654-2822. Names will be listed in the bulletin for one month unless specified. What the cross of Christ reveals is that when we are so paralyzed by fear and overcome by darkness that we can no longer help ourselves, when we have reached the stage where we can no longer open the door to let light and life in, God can still come through our locked doors, stand inside our fear and paralysis, and breathe out peace. The love that is revealed in Jesus' suffering and death, a love that is so other-centered that it can fully forgive and embrace its executioners, can melt frozen hearts, penetrate the walls of fear, descend into our private hells and, there, breathe out peace. There is a place inside us, a place we are rarely aware of, where each and every one of us is being touched and held unconditionally in love by God. Jesus' executioners acted in a darkness that came from never having had that experience.
Can you not spend one hour with me? (Mt 26:40)

"As they were marching out, they came upon a man of Cyrene, Simon by name; this man they compelled to carry his cross." Matthew 27:32 The Lord calls us to love God and to love our neighbor. Every day we are presented with opportunities to love our neighbor and help him "carry his cross". These opportunities aren't usually big events, they are usually ordinary occurrences like helping someone carry their groceries or holding the door open for someone. The key is putting the other person's needs before your own and not expecting anything in return. __________________________________________

Mass Intentions
As Catholics, we have a long tradition of having Masses celebrated for those we wish to offer up in prayer. The Mass is the ultimate form of prayer, and each Mass is celebrated for an intention. Please consider having Masses celebrated for family and friends on special occasions and anniversaries, as well as those who are in need of prayers. Masses are also encouraged in memory of those loved ones who have died, especially on the anniversaries of their deaths. Contact Fr. Cory for more information!
To reserve the Parish Basement or other St. Marys facility, please contact Fr. Cory or Lana at the Parish Office (email office@SaintMarysMalta.org).
