Introduction
The 7.10.2 release of the PowerSchool Student Information System (SIS) includes enhancements, and resolutions to previously identified issues.

Note: PowerSchool 7.10.2 does not support upgrading from PowerSchool 6.x. If your district is using PowerSchool 6.x, you must upgrade to PowerSchool 7.0 - 7.8 before upgrading to PowerSchool 7.10.2. Note: If Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) is enabled on your system, an update to the latest SIF adapter is required. Consult the latest SIF documentation for information on updating to SIF version 3.0.7. Introduction

PowerSchool 7.10.2 Release Notes

Use the PowerSchool installer to manage your PowerSchool deployment. It installs the database and application for a specific server, and it configures per-server settings such as database and web server ports, passwords, and file paths.

PowerSchool System Requirements

If this is the first time you are installing PowerSchool, review the Hardware and Software Requirements for PowerSchool 7.10.x and the Installation Guide for PowerSchool 7.10.x, available on PowerSource, before installing this version of PowerSchool. The Hardware and Software Requirements for PowerSchool 7.10.x are updated periodically, and contain information on supported software and browser versions for a release. Review this document before installing updates to PowerSchool.

General Recommendation
Pearson strongly recommends that you check to make sure Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is enabled on your PowerSchool server to ensure all data passed between your server and end users/Pearson Technical Support remains secure and private. If SSL is not enabled, data moving between your server and end users is unencrypted.

PowerSchool Components
PowerSchool is comprised of several software components, each versioned independently from one another. This allows for greater flexibility of component updates as new features and bug fixes become available. Some updates may include dependencies between components. These dependencies will be communicated and built in to the component update installers to prevent PowerSchool from being configured incorrectly. Issue Application Programming Interface (API) Updates to the Students Table Clears Custom Field Data Batch Boundary Validation Shows Error That The Selected Boundary is Empty Close Section at Max Override Password Description API updates to the Students table clears custom field data. This issue is now resolved.

When generating the Boundary Validation function, an error appears stating that the selected boundary is empty. This issue is now resolved. The Close Section at Max override password dialog does not appear when scheduling a student

For North Carolina, the Historical Grade Transfer is not transferring several fields. This issue is now resolved, and the process now transfers over the additional fields. For North Carolina, the Transfer Student Record function does not transfer over entry and exit codes. This issue is now resolved. The transfer process now transfers over the entry and exit codes. PASI Security group permissions cannot be saved when the ID is greater than or equal to 1000. This issue is now resolved. Courses with lower case course numbers appear in PowerScheduler with a red icon next to them, incorrectly indicating that they are not available for the scheduling year. This issue is now resolved. When the CPU spikes to 100, PowerSchool performance issues occur. This issue is now resolved. The default permgen memory for PowerSchool has been increased from 512 MB to 768 MB. When the Display Dropped Classes checkbox is selected on the Multi Section Report, student grades for a dropped section are not appearing. This issue is now resolved. Student grades for a dropped section now appear correctly when the checkbox is selected. Committing a master schedule does not associate a lead teacher to any sections for terms where one of the sections has no teacherID. This issue is now resolved. Now all sections that have a properly associated teacher are correctly assigned. When launching PowerTeacher Gradebook, a Socket Timeout Error appears for some users. This issue is now resolved. Some criteria cannot be changed when editing Student Preference Constraints. This issue is now resolved and Student Preference Constraints will save properly when edited. Under certain conditions, new course requests cannot be created for students when being created on the live side of the scheduling process. This issue is now resolved.
