THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

On May 17-18th, a traveling Prayer Wall will be here at the church. We are extremely hopeful this visual reminder of unreached people groups, will bring an awareness to our congregation that lost people matter. It is estimated two billion people have never heard of Jesus Christ. That is hard for us to imagine because in our country the name of Jesus is uttered either in praise or through profanity on a regular basis. The theme for the weekend will be Unleashed for the Unreached. Heres what has been planned for you and your friends: May 17- We will have an all-church Prayer Breakfast beginning at 8:45 a.m. During the breakfast, Ray Linn, retired minister from the Heath Church of Christ, will speak on the theme of Prayer and Global Missions. Immediately following the breakfast, the members of our church are invited to stay for a prayer walk at the church building. There will be various stations set up around the building to lead you in a guided prayer time. For those who cannot make the breakfast, the building will be open from 11-1 for you to pray. On the same day, the community of Lancaster will be invited to come to the building from 1:00-5:00 p.m to see the wall and consider adopting a people group to pray for daily. We hope you can join us and we encourage your friends to come and see the wall also. May 18th- On Sunday morning, a former associate minister, Keith Dimbath, will speak at our 10:00 service on the theme of Global Missions. Keith and His wife Christy spent their first years of ministry at Fifth Avenue so it will be like a homecoming for them. Keith & Christy both serve full-time with Lifeline Missions and he travels abroad to foreign countries several times a year as they seek to win new people to Christ. On this day, you will have opportunity to go to the wall and spend time in prayer, as well as adopt a tribe to pray for daily. The ultimate goal is that through our commitment to prayer, missionaries will rise up to these fields that are ready to be harvested and that souls will be won to Jesus because we are faithful in prayer.

BITS FROM BRO. DAVE

TRIP TO ADENA MANSION: On Thursday, May 8, we will be going to Chillicothe to visit the Adena Mansion and Gardens. This is the restored home of Ohios sixth governor, Thomas Worthington. The house was originally built in 1806-1807 and now contains many of the original pieces of furniture. (I am told they will be having a sale on their heirloom plants.) The tour will be preceded by lunch at the Golden Corral (in Chillicothe). The cost for admission and transportation is just $9 per person. Our departure time will be 10:00 AM. A sign-up sheet is posted on our bulletin board. (I would appreciate receiving your payment when you sign up.) SUNDAY EVENINGS IN THE SANCTUARY: This Sunday evening (4/20), we will complete our series Meet The Prophets. The message is Bored Folks: Malachi (Malachi 1:12-13). Why not join us at 6:00 PM? MIDWEEK BIBLE STUDIES: Pauls letter to Timothy is the focus of our current study. We are examining I Timothy chapter by chapter and verse by verse. I invite you to join either of our groups which meet at 10:00 AM and 6:30 PM. SENIOR SAINTS IN THE SMOKIES: We now have 9 folk registered to attend this grand event. There is still time to register! This will be the 30th anniversary for this senior event, held on the Johnson University (formerly Johnson Bible College) campus in Knoxville, Tennessee. The date is May 26-30. I would, certainly, encourage any of our folk to consider attending this great senior gathering (age 55 and up). One of our ladies still needs a roommate. See me for registration forms or for any questions. FINAL THOUGHT: We are always complaining that our days are few and acting as there would be no end to them.

In His Service, Brad

Thank you to everyone who helped with the Easter breakfast, especially Dan Brown for coordinating it.

Just a reminder .
Regular Sunday morning service times beginning today: Bible School at 8:45 a.m. Worship at 10:00 a.m.

Authors often comment about "writing from the heart," or a work being the "book of my heart." Robin Lee Hatcher's recent release, A Promise Kept, was definitely written from her heart ... and continues to touch the hearts of her readers. Hatcher always tells a good story, but this is more than a good story. It's a beautiful work filled with the promise of God's grace and renewal and restoration. A work of fiction, the story is based on the author's own experience. The honesty and intimacy and gentle power of this book stay with the reader long after the last page has been read.

If you will be graduating from High School or College this Spring, please let the church office know.

Each spring, we collect a special offering for either a project at our church or a mission abroad. This year, we have designated this offering to go to Lifeline Mission and their Navajo ministry. Lifeline Mission has begun working with the Navajo people of Arizona. The county in which they serve is one of the poorest counties in all the United States. Their ministry includes Red Sands Christian Church and Christian School. Their least of these outreach project helps them also connect to people living on the streets in Winslow, Arizona. Recently, Lifeline has been forced to do many renovations to their facility and currently they are trying to raise funds to replace an antiquated septic system so their ministry can continue. The completion of this project will allow Lifeline to add an additional fifty students in their school, which will enable them to impact more families for Christ. As of today, they still need to raise $5,800 for these renovations. Their goal was to do so by the end of Spring Break. Will you help? To check out more details on this project, go to www.Lifeline.org. Click the link on the home page that says: Ministering to the Navajo. Thank you for your help.

Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are: Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through gracebased preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

Church Health and Biblical Balance

Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and SoonComing King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry

After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

Discipleship
We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member. If you would like to take a Curious class, please indicate this on your Silent Roll Call Card.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).
