2 Gigih (Science) 4 July 2011/Monday 1.40-2.40pm Weak Water and Solution Composition of Water At the end of lesson, students should be able to: 1) determine the composition of water 2) test the presence of hydrogen and oxygen 3) list what formed at cathode and anode during electrolysis process Lecture, pop quiz Whiteboard, marker pen Attributing, Relating, Compare and contrast Making inference, predicting Having curiosity 1) Teacher draws composition of water and explains to students the ratio hydrogen to oxygen atom in a molecule of water. 2) Teacher draws the electrolysis process and simply explains what formed in anode and cathode during the process occurs. 3) Students need to joke down note in their note book. 4) Then teacher explain to students how to test the presence of oxygen and carbon dioxide. 5) Teacher point out a few questions in pop quiz session to test students understanding.

2 Elegen (Science) 4 July 2011/Monday 5.15-6.15pm Moderate and Weak Water and Solution Effects of Impurities on Physical Characteristics of Water, Composition of Water, Evaporation of Water At the end of lesson, students should be able to: 1) state how impurities change the physical characteristics of water. 2) determine the composition of water 3) test the presence of hydrogen and oxygen 4) explain what evaporation is Lecture, discussion, exercise Whiteboard, marker pen Attributing, Relating, Compare and contrast Making inference, predicting Having curiosity 1) Teacher explains how impurities can affect physical characteristics of water by using example of salt water. 2) Teacher explains about activity 5.3 in order to build better understanding on composition of water. 3) Students need to do simple report on activity 5.3 and checkpoint 5.2 on the spot. 4) Teacher explains about evaporation and the factors that affect the process. 5) Students need to write roughly on experiment 5.1 and teacher will discuss it on Thursday.

Activity, discussion Whiteboard, marker pen Attributing, Relating, Compare and contrast Making inference, controlling variables, predicting Having curiosity 1) Teacher gives simple briefing on procedures and precaution steps for todays activity. 2) Students carry out the activity in group and teacher guide them from time to time. 3) Teacher discusses the result and question with students. 4) Students need to do simple report on this activity on the spot or complete it at home if lacking of time.
