For an example, CRNAs help people in hospital environments, and they benefit us by helping out, and keeping patients safe. Becoming a CRNA takes about 5-7 years of college, which is a bachelor's degree. After college, people have to take a Nurse Anesthesia program, that lasts 24 to 36 months in length. This results in a masters degree. But, before it is possible to become a CRNA, have to become a Registered Nurse first. Continually throughout practice, a CRNA must obtain a minimum of 40 education credits every two years. (Q&A with). Becoming a CRNA is challenging and requires hard work. Salaries vary by geographic region and practice setting and are generally best in major metropolitan areas (Davila) . Despite salary, hours play a big role as well. Most CRNAs work anywhere between 8 to 24 hour shifts, Monday through Friday. It all depends on practice setting. Some CRNAs provide service 24/7/365. But, in other practice settings CRNAs may vary to work 8 to 12 hour shifts. (Q&A; Davila) CRNAs make good pay, and all that work really does pay off when CRNAs are making $100,000 to $190,000 a year, and working 8 to 12 hour shifts. (Farr, Michael) Being a CRNA is a hard job. It takes a lot of responsibility, but those who commit to it will have the most success in the long run.
