Players must be Informed


Must know NCAA regulations while in the recruiting process
Coaches and parents on high school level must help inform their players

Keeps students from being deceived and tricked into violating NCCA regulations Prevents ineligible status and preserves the future athletes college career

The Pressure to Win


Pressures: - Top players creates better program, winning - Championships give both school and coach more money - Boosts coaches career and keeps his job - The lust for the sport

NCAA Sanctions
What are sanctions? Sanctions: A threatened penalty for disobeying a law or rule Abides by strict guidelines in order to keep collegiate athletics for educational and amateur purposes Intense consequences if rules are broken
Examples: fines, suspensions, forfeit of games, loss of championships etc. - Oj Mayo recruiting violation case

Oj Mayo Case
Supposedly received compensation to attend USC prior to playing (2008) Receiving gifts therefore made him ineligible to play college athletics Retracted winning games(2008-09), forfeited post-season (2009-2010)

Consequences of Sanctions
Causes extreme negative reputation for university as a whole Slows down the development and furtherance of an athletic program Loss of championships, games, and individual players accomplishments Affects future recruiting opportunities for the university

Overview
Keeping recruiting regulated for safety and future of athletes Abiding by all NCAA regulations regarding recruiting to prevent negative connotations toward player and university Allowing college athletics to remain an amateur atmosphere for the building up and development of athletes for educational purposes and future endeavors
Not intended for money gain at college level Intended to develop the player both on and off the field
